[ WRITING EXAMPLE ] [ ... ] Hickorypaw was a kind, optimistic apprentice. Nothing like the cat he was today. It all began with a single border patrol. The first patrol Hickorypaw and his friend, Mirepaw were doing by themselves. they were running in glee, and he heard Mirepaw call out at him. "Hey, wanna do a game of truth or dare? Nothing's gonna happen badly, I'm sure of it! Or better yet, look at that badger sett! I bet you i could go in there and survive!" she said, even though it sounded a bit arrogant. "I don't think that's a good idea," Hickorypaw admitted. "But you can try!" And so, she did. After all, none of them thought a badger was actually in there. [ ... ] It all happened too fast. One moment, he was laughing with his best friend as she went into the sett, and now he was running from a badger while his friend's body was mangled on the grass. He managed to survive. . .but Mirepaw was dead. "Why?! You could've saved her! You could've made sure there wasn't a badger in that sett! YOU COULD'VE MADE EVERYTHING STILL BE OKAY! DO YOU EVEN CARE ABOUT US?!" He screamed at the sky, assuming the ones above were up there listening to him. And that's when the thought struck him. The ones above might've not cared, and the cats were believing in total frauds. And after that, Hickorypaw learned how to get his way without being optimistic, saying the ones would make it okay, and he found out that the only cat that he could ever save... ...was himself.
