The very next day, at Vinn’s house, Noah found himself enjoying his time there. Everyone in their friend group was there. Even Remi, which was surprising considering she never seemed interested in anything. Everyone seemed to act the same outside of school too, which was a huge sigh of relief to Noah. He had been slightly worried at the possibility of everyone acting differently outside of school, so he was pleased. “You know,” Zaiden started at one point in the afternoon, “I can buy us all a large pizza if you want.” “Ooo, that sounds good,” Maci responded. “If you do, make sure it’s cheese, just how everyone likes it,” Natalie added. “You got it,” Zaiden replied, already making the order on his phone. “I just had the most fantastically wonderful idea ever,” Flora exclaimed like she had never come up with her own idea before. “Fantasticlly wonderful?” Remi asked, intrigued by the word choice but not showing it. “Yes! We should all watch a movie together,” Flora suggested, already loving her own idea. “I could go for a movie,” Maci responded. “What about you Z?” “What did I say about calling me that?” Zaiden replied, going quieter, his face growing a little red. Vinn already started setting up the couch. Noah and Natalie decided to help out. They rearranged the pillows, laid down blankets, and even placed all the snacks closer to the couch so everyone wouldn’t have to walk as far for them. When everyone finally sat down, they all seemed to immediately relax. Noah sat in between Vinn and Flora. Noah handed Vinn a water bottle, reminding him to stay hydrated. Zaiden and Maci sat next to each other, while Natalie and Remi sat together on the other end of the couch. While the movie was playing its opening credits, Vinn turned to Noah. “Is this what you were expecting?” He asked. Noah turned to him. “No. But I like it.” Vinn nodded and smiled. “Good.” Noah gave him a smile back. “Thank you, again, for everything.” “No problem,” Vinn responded. “Welcome home.”
