It had been four years since Noah’s endeavor with the end of his and Mason’s friendship. The friend group was now in the middle of their Sophomore year in high school. A lot of things had changed in that amount of time. For starters, in eighth grade, the friend group once again welcomed a new member. Her name was Tessa Tucker. She usually wore cyan-colored clothing, and had a lot of similarities to both Remi and Natalie, who both instantly took a liking to her. Noah also started to always bring two water bottles to school every day, and he always gave them to Vinn, just to make sure he stayed hydrated. There were a few occasions where Vinn almost fainted, but besides those few occurrences everything went along smoothly. Zaiden and Maci had started dating once high school began. They had shown interest in each other throughout middle school, but didn’t want to start anything until the start of high school, which is exactly what they did. And yes, Zaiden even let Maci call him Z. Natalie had looked into a ton of collages, and had already sent out early applications to some of her top choices. She invited both Tessa and Remi to join her too. Tessa followed pursuit immediately, and while Remi took longer, she actually did show some amount of interest in applying. Though, she kept her monotone composure. Noah, Vinn, and Flora all managed to join the drama club. Flora even managed to get a good amount of lead roles already, which was big for a sophomore. Noah and Vinn weren’t as fortunate, but they still enjoyed their time there. Noah and Flora started dating at the beginning of sophomore year, and things have been going pretty well between the two of them. Flora often went to Noah’s house, and the two of them would do homework and have dinner together. It was a nice cozy routine that only the two of them got to do. While Noah didn’t talk to either of them after sixth grade, he did overhear a few students talking about how Mason and Kai had made it to the top spots for their baseball team. They even got a few applications from college sports teams for their performance. Noah still didn’t care as much as he would’ve liked to admit, but at least he knew the two of them were doing well together. As for Noah and Vinn, the two of them had grown since their podcast days. Speaking of, their story-telling podcast was a huge success inside of their school, and even managed to get a few other students inspired and more creative than before. Noah and Vinn always hung out together if the other wasn’t busy. They went to the movies, their houses, amusement parks, and just about everything in between. Vinn seemed to be an even better friend than Mason could have ever been, and Noah liked that part of him. As Noah stood out on the front deck of his house one evening, watching the sunset as one dose, he found himself reflecting on everything that had happened those past four years. He thought about Mason, Kai, Vinn, and every little event in between. Then, Noah smiled. Because at the end of the day, when everything was said and done, it didn’t matter if one best friend betrayed you, or left you behind because you were too different. All that mattered were the friends and family members who cared about you, which was enough to keep pushing Noah forward. Noah Brooks, the class jokester, third best actor in the grade, enemy of Kai, was best friends with Mason, and now best friends with Vinn, was finally at ease. The end.
