Chapter 6-Quality is not the appearance of something, but rather its Condition Because the chapter was too long to fit in here with the title i moved it to the lower box Note that I might be taking a break, since I have been uploading a chapter or two a day! https://scratch.mit.edu/projects/1305972113/ Next chapter
In the ever lasting night of Bionecrotropolis, particularly in the ARC base, there was quite the commotion. Irat and Snipe were skating on the empty floor of their warehouse, and before you ask, you can thank Mel, as she used her Diluted Lubricant in order to turn the Warehouse into a skating park, for that. Target is just watching Irat keeping his balance, and Snipe bumbling like a clown. “Hey, Harvard, lemme try to help” Irat offered Snipe. “No way, Iratate, I….Got this…uff!” Snipe fell face flat and began sliding on his stomach like a penguin. At this point, everyone started to laugh, and Irat slides out and slides back in with a Tube. “Mel, you have an Assistance mission: Someone wants their car fixed.” “On it! Enjoy your skate rink, boys, Not!” She pulls what is known in your world as the removing thumb trick, only in this world, it is the equivalent of a “PSYYYCCHHHEEEE!!!”, and then promptly undoes the power, but just before Snipe crashes into the wall. The client was over in Fluemotropolis, and Mel analyzed the car. “What is wrong with her, Ms.Runner?” The client asked. “Her battery is flat like cardboard, Gimmie a bit” Mel dashes and returns a minute later with a car battery and some jumper cables. “Good thing her battery is a 4.5 on the quality scale, I just need to-” Mel then finishes charging the client’s car, and the client pays Mel 350 shards. “Uh, I think I owe you 50 shards in change…” “Keep it, it is my tip!” Mel spent the entire day all over the Eye fixing cars, baking goodies(She is really good by the way), and she keeps impressing people with not only her speed, but the fact that she values quality. Back at the base, Mel is seen fixing the van, when Snipe walks in, hunched as usual, and states that she needs to come look at the news. In the lobby, on the news, the newsanchor states, “Today, we seem to have a new Alias to be determined by the public, as an ARC member, Melissa Yasmine Runner, has been dubbed Dr.Rushquality, for her immense speed, not to mention the high quality of her work, now lets go over the weather report…” Mel looks at the Tube Disposal, and she lights up, as she announces that her mother Tubed her! At the Scrap Cemetery, the E-waste of Bionecrotropolis, we see a woman at a furnace and she is looking at the recently received electronics, and we see a sign on the gate that reads: ANYTHING UNDER A 3.0 ON THE QUALITY SCALE WILL BE REJECTED. Mel walks in, and she is followed by Irat. The woman looks up, and smiles. “Yas! You got my Tube!” “Oh, Irat, this is my mother, Solaris, but she prefers Risa” Mel introduces Irat to her mother. “Hmm, Yasmine, have you been going out with a Ghoul? No shame, just curious”. A Ghoul is a term used to describe Undeads that look zombie-esque in nature. “Mooommmm!!! Why would you think my boyfriend would also be my boss?!” Mel was red, not from embarrassment, but from frustration, as Risa had a little habit of shipping Mel with ANY boy she was seen with and knows, which often leads Mel on a rather aggressive explaining spree. A klaxon sounds, and a hooded figure asks to see if he can get some scrap. “Sure! It’s 50 shards a pound, help yourself!” Risa opens the gate, and helps the customer browse. Mel decides to show Irat where she and her mom live. Apparently, Mel was raised IN the Scrap Cemetery, and Risa had a little house on the outskirts. Irat notices a book, and asks, “That is not a diary, right?” “No, it’s a list of all the men who fell below the quality baseline of 3.0 in regards to their relationships with us.” Mel explained. Mel asks Irat to wait outside for a bit, and she then returns with a Multiwrench. There is a bit of screaming, and the sound of a gate slamming. Risa walks up, and she looked ticked. “What was the value this time, Mama? 2.3?” Mel asks with genuine concern. “1.5!! Not only was he rude, but he refused to buy anything because of the state of this place!!! This is a dump, not a department store, and then he had the nerve to call my place a health violation, so I chucked my shot put ball at him and knocked him out!” Risa ranted. Mel was calculating everything, “What was the starting quality?” Mel asked. Risa told her 3.5. “So minus 0.5 for the attitude, minus 1.0 for soliciting, and minus 0.5 for talking trash about the place. That adds up” “Uh, Risa? How did you knock a customer out of your shop with just a shot put ball?” Irat asked. “Oh, I have Vectorkinesis, or the ability to control the speed and force of an object!” Risa explains “So, Yasmine, I heard you are now Dr.Rushquality. I just wanted to bring you here to tell you how proud of you I am.” Risa then hugs Mel, and shakes hands with Irat, rather firmly. “If you need anything from here, I am more than happy to give you a 100% discount for being associated with ARC” Irat gives Risa a contact card and an honorary member bracelet. Today was rather calm, but a dark force slowly arises….
