I watched as the she-cat tilted her head, seemingly in confusion. “Huh? Why do you look like I’d hurt you?” The other cat asked. I lifted my head from where I had bowed it and became confused myself. “What wouldn't you? I’m trespassing on your land.” I replied in a whisper voice. She laughed. “You’ve heard stories, haven’t you?” She asked, smiling. “Y’know, you can never rely on those things. Mostly made up.” She told me. “I’m Willow. Your…?” She waited for me to respond. I felt so relived. I thought I would die. “I’m Bella.” I replied, returning the smile. “Nice to meet you, Bella.” Willow greeted. “You’re a human capture, aren’t you?” I nodded. “Yeah. I always wanted to join the wild but… it wasn’t so bad. My human will worry.” I said. Willow rolled her eyes. “Humans don’t have real emotions, they just pretend to.” She stated how she felt. I shook my head. “I’ve lived with one for as long as I can remember. They DO feel.” I replied, defending those I had loved my entire life. “If you live in the wild you learn that they truly don’t.” She argued. “Then I’ll find out.” I shot back. Willow studied me for a moment before speaking again. “Do you need a place to stay?” She asked. I nodded. “Yes! I have nowhere to go.” Willow smiled. “I’ll take you to my group then, but we have to get out of here, quick!” She sped off and I followed. “Why?” I asked. She looked at me with pity. “We’re in a war and I was trespassing.” She explained. I widened my eyes from shock. *A war? I was joining a war?* I thought. Raced after her anyways, wanting a secure place to live. Willow smile at me, the one she was holding having of dropped once we started running. “Don’t worry,” she reassured me. “I’ll put you in a place where you win’s have to do battle practice, thigh you will go second in battles.” This shot my awareness up. She would put me in a place where I’d have to go SECOND in battle with no experience. I’d die for sure. “What position?” I asked, trying to find more about what was happening. “My heir. You’ll be trained in war strategies and battle formations, then when I die you’ll take my position deciding those.” She told me. I’d have no experience. I’d be learning from scratch. That’d be fine since I wouldn’t do any work, though. And I was sure Willow was a great teacher. I became confident after those thought, sure I could do what I was asked of.
