Chapter One: Raven I sighed and walked back into my house. I didn't like to be outside among people. I preferred to be alone. I flipped on the lights and kicked off my shoes. I went upstairs. I closed my bedroom door and laid down on my bed. I put my earbuds in and started listening to music. I closed my eyes. It didn't help. Nothing did. I stood up and went downstairs to have a snack. I stared out the window in the kitchen. I saw kids playing across the street. I looked away at the paintings on the wall. I saw a picture of myself when I was younger. That was before my mom d!*d. I sighed and put away the ice cream I was eating. I tried hard not to slam anything. It always upset people living nearby. I always tried to seem nice and helpful and whatever. When I get home and I'm alone, I let myself be me. I put my hands through my hair and sighed. It was hardly the evening and I knew something important was going to happen at night. I knew I was going to meet someone who would change my life forever.
