Welcome to Teacher Training! If you’ve been accepted as a teacher, this is your next step. This short training will show you how to run lessons, help students, and stay organized at Fox Pine. Take your time and read everything carefully. ~Creating Lessons~ Before you begin teaching your course, you need to plan out your content. Every teacher must create a clear lesson map so students know what to expect and you stay organized. -When planning your course, decide: -What is the goal of your class? What skills or knowledge should students gain? -Break your topic into small, teachable chunks for each lesson. -What homework or activities go with each lesson *Teachers should plan one month of lessons at a time, updating or adjusting when needed.* ~Handling problems with students~ I will go over a few scenarios that might happen and walk you through what to do if it happens. If anything I didn't go over happens, please tell me at @Fox_Pine, and I will either handle it myself or tell you what to do. 1. A student replies with rude comments, ignores instructions, or argues with another student. Please tell them to respect the rules or even review them. If their behavior is not fixed, tell the principals or me. 2. A student hasn’t done homework or responded in a long time (two weeks+): Leave a friendly reminder and give them time to respond. If they stay inactive, tell one of the principals or me. 3. A student wants to switch classes Tell them they’re allowed to switch classes, but that power does not belong to teachers, and tell them to communicate with one of the principals or me. Ask them to comment on the correct project Do NOT remove them yourself! Only principals can do that ~What teachers CAN'T DO~ -They cannot remove students -You cannot change the rules -You cannot start new classes without permission -You cannot punish students, only redirect or report ~How to Be Professional~ Be kind Don’t argue Don’t guilt students Don’t shame mistakes Keep replies respectful
