Alex ran through the woods. Something was chasing him. Something huge. Something was out for blood. He ran and ran until he tripped on a fallen branch. He fell onto the hard forest floor, looking straight up at the afternoon sky before trying to scramble back up to his feet but it was too late, the monster that was chasing him had caught up. It was standing over him, it had the body of a starved elk, the horns of an elk, yet the large paws of a bear. It bared its wolf-like teeth at him before lunging. Then he woke up. His radio alarm blasted “Wake Me Up When September Ends” by Green day. He groaned, turning off his alarm rubbing his tired eyes before looking at the clock “5:34..” he groaned, knowing he had 20 lonely minutes to get ready to go to school. He got out of bed, still shell shocked from his nightmare, he reached for a roughed up, dark blue journal by his bed “another night, another nightmare to log..” he mumbled, grabbing the notebook and the pencil next to it. He opened to the next clear page. He wrote about his dream, the large creature, the tripping, even the time of day was written down. “Cant leave out anything…doctor Akhtar wants everything for our upcoming session..” Alex mumbled once more, exhausted from almost no hours of sleep. After he finished the quick write down he walked down his house stairs, looking at the table that had a container with his name on it. He walked over to the container that sat lonely on the table and read the note that was on it; “Made you breakfast! Remember to have a good day! Love you! - Mom” The note made him smile, his mother had been working double shifts recently and hasn’t been able to eat breakfast with him but that never stopped her from making him breakfast to put in a container before he even woke up, he always loved that about his mother. He stuffed the container into his backpack before going out of the house and to his bus stop, he was the only person at that stop, everyone had graduated the year before. The cold air nipped at his ears and nose, making them a rosey red like color After a little while his bus finally showed up. He stepped into the warm and loud bus, his bus smelt a variety of things like the girls in the front perfume to the boys in the back body odor, it was an overwhelming concoction of smells but he could tolerate it for a few more months. After about an hour of stopping and picking up other kids the bus finally reached the school, Auburn high, the school full of cliques and underdogs, unfortunately Alex was part of group underdog, he never really belonged to a group, he found them pointless anyways. Alex wondered over to his friends, he didn’t talk to them much but they sure did talk about him a bunch. “Do you think Alex is free this Friday?” Spoke a tall blond haired boy to a dark skinned girl with dark curly hair. That boy was named Jack, he was your average jock, tall, wearing a letterman jacket, messy blond hair…dreamy eyes…that was besides the point, The girl? That's Harper, she's a stunning looking girl, perfect hourglass shape, just the right height, every girl wanted to be like her and every boy wanted her. “Yeah I should be free, why?” Alex spoke, looking up at Jack “Me, Harper and Katie were going out on a little trip, think of it like a senior sunset but it's not a school related thing and we still have 3 months of school left” Jack said with a soft shrug. Harper and Katie were also Jack's friends, they helped him a lot through his mental health and just social life. “Yeah i would love to go!” Alex said with a smile, he loved trips but this trip was different, he was going to be with people he likes but he likes one of them just a little more than the rest. “Alright! Friday it is, ill see you then!” Jack said with a smile, rubbing Alex’s shoulder before walking off with Harper to class. Alex stared at his shoulder for a small while before looking up at them leaving with a smile and a blush before walking to class as well.
