So, I've been having some phantom shifts of wings for months now, which isn't very normal for someone who is only wolfkin. Due to them coming back for a bit, I doubt their cameoshifts. These shifts usually only happen when I'm thinking about the shifts happening. Besides like 2 times, that's been consistently how I've been thrown into the shifts. That kind of makes me doubt their legitimacy a bit, but I do know it's common to trigger shifts when thinking about alterhumanity-related stuff, so I'm a bit conflicted. I want to talk about how my phantom shifts have gone with these wings. I'm a bit hesitant on calling this experience a phantom shift, but it was the first strange occurrence possibly related to the wings. I was at school and just glanced at some kid wearing a backpack, and suddenly I felt a weight on my back, sort of like I was wearing a backpack, which I wasn't. I don't remember any discernible winglike forms, just weight. It was like I laid a weighted blanket on my back. I'm not even sure if this experience is related to the wing stuff, but I felt I should mention it. The next odd occurrence happened about a year later. I was also in class, and I might have been thinking about the backpack incident, but I'm not sure, when I felt some more weight on my back. I could feel little nubs poking out my shoulder blades. The next was later that day when I was thinking about that shift, and I had it again. It was basically the same thing. I had them on and off for the next few months. They always started on my shoulder blades, and I could feel them the strongest there. As they went down, I could feel them less. My left wing (if you were standing in front of me) I could usually feel better than my right. Sometimes the right felt completely missing even if the left was fine. They occasionally feel like they're brown with some black and white extra details but other times they feel like a mauve purple. I had another shift recently that was a bit different. I was thinking back on my wing experiences, and I got them again as per usual. But this time they were way stronger. The base was still the strongest, but I could definitely feel the rest of my wing clearly. They were heavy and thick. I could flap them when I usually could barely move them. Flapping was a struggle because the weight of my wings made them difficult to move. They also felt pretty large, though not massive compared to other birds. If I had to guess, they were maybe 3 feet/1 meter long. They have a thinner base connecting them to my shoulder blades, then the wing gets wider in the middle, kind of like a circular shape, and then at the end of the wing it teeters out to be less wide. As I was flapping, I got sucked into a mental shift. Being landbound made me feel very uncomfortable, and all I wanted to do was fly and feel the wind whipping in my face. So now I'm trying to find answers to what I'm experiencing. I researched a bit on non-bird animals with wings, but I doubt that I'm one of them. Insects are just too small for those wings, have thin wings, and have light wings. A bat's wings are too thin. Flying dinosaurs are too tiny. I doubt I'm a mythical creature because all of the winged ones I've researched have a combination of different things that are incorrect. So that leaves me with birds. I've poked around a bit, but since I really have nothing to go off of except my shifts, I can't narrow much down. Since I'm also a wolf, determining which instincts are for who is very difficult. I have one potentially bird instinct that I've identified, which is my strange way I react to seeing a fly. For some reason, whenever I see one, my brain just goes fully out the window, and the only thing on my mind is that I need to get it. I don't particularly hate flies, they're just a bit annoying sometimes, and I don't go after them because of that. I only go after them because my brain goes haywire when I see them. I just try to kill them and be unsuccessful. I also don't really track them down after my assassination attempt. Once I try, my brain gets satisfied usually, and I can go back to being normal even if I don't kill them successfully. I've always preferred the very early morning and night (which I've associated with being caused by being a wolf, I've always had more wolf shifts then), but I hate the afternoons. Those could possibly be related to being a bird, but I'm not sure. I'd just like to add that I've always associated myself with flight. When picturing myself, it's common for me to picture wings, sometimes with accompanying wolf features as well. Thinking about flying always felt right to me. If you have any pointers to types of bird species or clades or anything to help me narrow down my search, other winged creatures that you think I should look into, or any ideas on trying to find more of my birdy instincts, please tell me them. Any tips are appreciated.
