Well, I analyzed the lyrics a bit. I understand a little of their meaning. When Max says "the lies," he means that when you fall in love with someone, you deny their bad qualities. In other words, Max denied how bad a person Nugget was in this universe. Then the part "my lips slip thought poised vines" refers to when Max speaks well of Nugget. And the final part, when he says "all this time I thought I died," he says it because Nugget rejected him and treated him very badly, and Max broke down after that...
