It was not found naturally. It was created. Initial testing was performed on a small group of subjects. The results were immediate and irreversible. Subject 3 expired shortly after exposure. Subject 1 did not. The organism did not kill Subject 1 in a conventional sense. Instead, it spread through the body, replacing organic tissue over time. The host was consumed from the inside. What remained was not human. The Infestation used Subject 1 as a structural frame. Flesh was broken down and absorbed. In its place, a dense fungal network expanded, binding to bone and reshaping the body.
