I felt like I should bring this up as I feel people might ask me about some games. As of May 19th, Roblox will be releasing an update which requires creators to do the following in order for their games to reach all audiences: - Have a valid ID - Have Roblox Plus - Have good standing in their Roblox account - Have your account be older than 2 days - Have 2 step verification Let me put that in simpler terms: For you, a creator on a FREE platform, must PAY Roblox and give them your biometric data in order to have your game reach all audiences. I don't think I have to explain how absurd that is. Roblox has it's profit due to being a free development platform, and it spits in it's creators faces with this update. I have wanted to be a game dev since I was 10, struggling in Roblox Studio to make something that others could play. I expressed ideas and had almost full creative freedom with Roblox. With this update, however, I am stripped of that privilege due to the sole fact that an investor wanted another zero on their paycheck. They state that it is to "remove AI generated games" and "protect children," despite the fact that this will likely not affect any of the games they want to remove. As for child safety, that is a subject I cannot discuss on Scratch. I feel many emotions right now. All of them too colorful to express. I'm wishing that Roblox changes their mind and does not go through with this, but knowing David, I don't think they will. Being said, I cannot in good faith continue developing on that platform. Roblox has proven time and time again that they value profit over child safety, user accessibility, and community enjoyment of their platform. I'm done with Roblox and I will no longer be developing on their platform. I ask you all to support not just me, but other creators who are likely to lose their only source of income due to this update. Moving forward, I will use other game engines (such as Unreal Engine 5, Godot, Unity, etc.) to post my creative works. I may also release albums unrelated to my games. Roblox has ignored their community time and time again. I implore you to stop playing Roblox, as continuing support of their platform will only feed into this behaviour. Roblox does not care about their players, their creators, or their platform. They only care about profit. They only care about money. The only thing they care about is greed.
