I headed toward my winglet cave. The Quartz Winglet. I wonder who my roomma-nope, clawmates will be. The vocabulary here is weird. It’s going to take a bit to get used to it. I crashed into a warm, solid wall. I focused my eyes. “Oh my gosh! I am so sorry! I was lost in thought!” I exclaimed. “It’s fine,” a deep voice replied. I stared into amber colored eyes. I glanced at his appearance. A healed scar across his snout, silver wing-rings, ruby and silver earrings dangling from his ears, dark brown scales, black horns and claws, a black stripe above his belly, light brown underbelly, light brown wings, and light brown spines. Mudwing. His aura…it feels…weird. I shoved that thought away. “What is your name?” he rumbled. I paused, “Cloudstrike. Yours?” “The name is Heron. What winglet are you in?” he questioned. “Quartz Winglet,” I answered. Heron’s face lit up, “Same! You seem lost. Need some help getting there?” “I wouldn’t mind it,” I said. “Follow me,” Heron said. He turned around and started walking. I followed him. “Welcome to the caves of the Quartz Winglet!” Heron announced. I looked around and spotted an empty cove in the corner. Not claimed yet. I headed toward it. I put some scrolls that contained school stuff in the cubby next to my cove. “Are you new here?” Heron asked. “I am,” I said. “Would you like a tour around the school?” Heron questioned. “If you wouldn’t mind,” I replied. “And last but not least…Here is our library!” Heron announced, turning the corner. I paused in awe at the entrance. Bookshelves upon bookshelves filled the whole room. A 20-year-old nightwing with a white blindfold wrapped around his eyes sat at the desk. Blind, I presume. He was talking to a purplish Nightwing with white spots wrapping around her wrist. “Those are Starflight and Fatespeaker,” Heron whispered. Starflight. He is the Nightwing from the Dragonets of Destiny. “Hello, Starflight and Fatespeaker!” Heron said. Starflight’s mouth turned upward into a grin, “What brings you here, Heron?” “Well, I was giving a new dragon a tour. Starflight and Fatespeaker, I want you to meet Cloudstrike. She looks quite a bit like you, Fatespeaker,” Heron answered. “Eek! A new Nightwing!” Fatespeaker squealed. “Hi, I am Cloudstrike. Nice to meet you,” I said. Fatespeaker gasped and bounded over, “You’re so pretty!” “Thank you,” I responded. I walked over to Starflight, “This is a nice library. Can I get a few scrolls?” I left the library with a smile on my face and multiple scrolls in my hands. Nope, claws. Still getting used to this. I reached down and unzipped my bag. I dropped the scrolls in and zipped it back up. “Why did you get some blank scrolls?” Heron asked. “I thought I might need a few eventually,” I responded. I was definitely not going to say it was to write what I know about Watchers and Listeners. Also, it was going to permanently be staying in my bag. A gong rang a few times. “Time for lunch! Follow me,” Heron announced excitedly. “Alright,” I responded. I started after him.
