The Caribbean has declared a state of war against Atlantica. The casus belli is twofold, (1) The New World Protocol mandates Caribbean defence of the Americas against foreign intervention, like Atlantica has been doing in Brazil. (2) Atlantica has committed several acts of aggression against the Alpine Federation, which is a Caribbean ally. The Caribbean do not have imperialist goals; they do not aim to seize any territory from Atlantica. Their main objectives for the war are (1) For Atlantican territory in Europe to be partitioned and for Poland to be granted independence. (2) For the two Atlantican bases in South America to be ceded back to Brazil (3) For Atlantica to guarantee no further aggression against the Caribbean or any of its allies (4) For a balance of power to be restored on the world stage Before any fighting begins, a swarm of Caribbean drones discharges a thick vapour into Atlantican airspace from Earth’s upper atmosphere; this is done to obscure vision and neutralise radar systems in the air, thus greatly impairing the navigation facilities of the Atlantican navy and airforce. The fog also reduces drastically the energy output of Atlantican solar farms, hindering the industry. It will not hinder the Caribbean’s drones, though; they have satellite maps of the world already encoded within them, and can ignore the fog if need be in navigation by omitting its chemical footprint. To further impair their radar systems, each Caribbean drone emits a large jolt of radiowaves through the air, distorting radar signals and making the positions of each drone obscured and unintelligible. The drones are fast enough and alternate their positions such that anti-air systems are rendered ineffective against them, and the hit-and-run nature of their attacks means that they often retreat before the anti-air can be properly engaged. The two annexed military bases in Brazil are the first targets; they are heavily bombed by drone fire within minutes of the fog being discharged, and the authorities there have little time to co-ordinate a response. All critical facilities, including army outposts, communications and energy resources, are targeted here. The Caribbean does not have a wide enough drone swarm to conduct air strikes of the entire Atlantican mainland and Europe; therefore, it has resorted to more minor actions, like launching hit-and-run attack waves on key military infrastructure and disabling power lines to cause blackouts. They are trying to inflict as much damage as possible before the Atlanticans have time to react. More focus is taken to attack Europe, though, since that is likely less defended than the mainland and the Caribbean has many allies there that could help. The border with the Alpine Federation, as well as concentrated urban areas in Poland, are additionally targeted by drone-fire, in hopes of damaging the The drone-net is also fully operational by this time, having been patched from its damages in WW7. In effect, it is a huge network of drones strung above Caribbean airspace, able to swarm around & shoot down nearby enemy ships and ignite incoming missiles in mid-air while reducing the impact of the explosion. The Caribbean knows that they cannot challenge Atlantica in the sea war. Therefore, they have withdrawn their navy and submarines from overseas, docking them in military bases where they will be guarded by drone fleets. They have installed their own autonomous underwater batteries at strategic positions and choke points in the sea to secure a stable defence of the Caribbean basin.
I know I say “rushed project” every time, but this time it’s actually true; I’ve been up late making this, and it’s not really up to quality standards at all. Scanlines from @Marica_games Music: Dies Irae from Verdi’s Requiem
