It is April, SAAM! This is simply an essay to describe just how important SAAM really is. This is N (not) A (a) J (joke)! Please be serious and know that many people (like me) have been deeply affected by SA and this is extremely important. ========================================== Essay can be read in Notes & Credits! EXTRA reminder not to take this as a joke, in ANY way! It offends me whenever I see people joke about SA, it’s also disgusting how they think the victims of SA are exaggerating! I was a victim and SOME of you need to take this a LOT more seriously. I spend a lot of time on this essay but I’m not voicing over it so read it yourself; please and thank you. ALSO the character wearing a wizard hat (my main OC) is draggable so if they’re covering something just move them! That’s all! Oh, and remember; if someone needs comfort because of SA (even if they enjoyed it, want it to happen again, hate it, hate all physical touch or ANYTHING), comfort them! Goodbye my potatoes!

While sexual assault is al pervasive issue that demands attention year-round, this annual campaign serves as a vital focal polnt to foster conversation, challenge harmful myths, and advocate for systemle change. Sexual vlolence affecta individuals of all ages, genders, and backgrounds, with atatistics highlighting its alarming pravalence. According to racent data, 1 in 3 women and 1 in 5 men experience some form of sexual violence in their lifetime. Despite these high numbers, sexual assault remains one of the most underreported crimes, often shrouded in silence and stigma. SAAM aims to shatter this silence, encouraging survivors to feel empowered and informing the publie that such actions are never acceptable. A core pillar of SAAM Is the emphasis on prevention. Awareness means more than Just acknowledging that abuse oceurs; It Involves reflecting on socletal norms, family dynamics, and cultural attitudes that may allow violence to persist. Education regarding consent is fundamental to this effort. Consent is defined as an affirmative, conscious, and voluntary agreement to engage in sexual activity, which can be revoked at any tlma. By promoting a culture where consent Is the standard-not the exception-communitles can work toward raducing, and evantually eliminating, sexual violence. SAAM Is also a time to honor survivors and ensure they know they are not alone, It provides an opportunity to listen to their experiences, believe them, and offer unwavering support. Advocates emphasize that healing begins with empathy and that communlty support Is crucial for survivors to reclalm their power. As the movement marks 25 years of action, themes Ilke "Looking Back, Moving Forward" highlight the progress made while acknowledging the work that remains. The goal is to move from awareness to action by educating others, speaking out against victim-blaming, and supporting local crisis centers. Sexual Assault Awareness Month is more than thirty days of recognition; it is a catalyst for lasting change. By coming together in April-often represented by wearing teal-communities take a stand against a pervasive Issue, advocating for a future where everyone feels safe, respected, and In control of their own body.
