Oriana was born into a family of such, spending her early days playing in the thick forest that surrounded Langsyn. one day, nearing her 16th, Oriana stumbled into a meadow filled with creamy blue flowers, and the fluffy white creatures her mother had called sheep. albeit curious, she stayed in the meadow for most of the afternoon, provoking the sheep and whatnot. nearing late afternoon, the sun turning a deep golden, another cat entered the meadow, on the far side opposite Oriana, stepped up to the sheep. he hooked his claws through the thick fur. Oriana, intrigued, decided to draw nearer, close enough for this other cat to notice her. he wore the royal patterns on his back, which the foragers at the castle searched tirelessly for the permanent white sap from the special trees that grew higher than Langsyn, to paint a seal of sorts on the descendants backs. a seal that said, even if not written specifically, "i am higher than you will ever be." this cat- Ariya, was the nephew of the king, and had an interest in sewing, harvesting the thick wool from the sheep every so often to turn into fabric and thread as the apprentice for the best tailor in the city. Ariya had a fresh personality, much different from the other royals Oriana had briefly met during parades or public speaking. not arrogant, or elitist. a couple years passed, Oriana and Ariya basically inseperable, Ariya teaching Ori sewing and tailoring and fitting, Ori teaching Ariya foraging for edibles, hunting, tracking, and a sense for adventure. Ariya gifted Ori with a beautiful woven collar, and in turn Ori gifted him a wreath of intricate pine needles, which Ariya wore perpetually on his head. Oriana came out and Ariya fully supported Oriana, now Orion. they even fell in love, enamored by their complimenting personalities and the way they perfectly fell into rhythm, naturally, as if meant to be. however, times could not remain as such. down south of Langsyn, another city also thrived, named Kortsyn. the two cities had always been rivals of sorts, but now Kortsyn was pushing for more territory up the mountain, which Langsyn couldn't allow. and so, an army of 250 was gathered, she-cats without young kits, and toms, fit for fighting 18 to 30, were dragged into war. the first battle didn't go well, not for Langsyn. although Orion did go into battle, Ariya stayed back, finishing up his apprenticeship as royals weren't needed/required to be in the battle. tragedy struck. the king of Langsyn was killed, and both of his sons in this first battle. Ariya, now prepping to be king, was cold and distant to Orion. not that Orion couldn't understand that he was busy with battle tactics, but Ariya was ignorant towards him and even cruel at times. before the second battle, Orion was able to finally converse for a few minutes with Ariya. he gave short, icy answers, before Orion finally asked. "do you still love me?" Ariya, staring him directly in the eye, took the wreath off, ripping it apart with his jaws. he didn't have time for foolish romances anymore, especially with a 'tom' that wouldn't want to produce heirs. the second battle began. it went smoothly, under Ariya's command. now standing in the middle of the bloodstained battleground, Orion faced off three of the few remaining soldiers from Kortsyn. this was too much, even for a skilled fighter like him. Ariya, dressed in thick bark and sap armor, watched as Orion's thick, plumed tail was torn clean off, only feet away. Langsyn won the battle, claiming back their territory, and Orion, gravely injured, stayed in the city medic's building for months. following his recovery, he built a cozy wooden den in the forest near the blue-flower meadow. he wove a fake tail for himself, to help with balance, but mainly to make a statement whenever he saw Ariya at the castle, now that Orion was a royal forager. catfish!!!! - - -

Langsyn means "farsight" in Norwegian, and Kortsyn means "shortsight". the white-sap tree mentioned is the Norway maple! the sap comes from its leaves, although it's not permanent. holy dude this could be like a 67 chapter long story ToT - - - CREDITS all art & animation by me (@forestfawned) Babydoll by Dominic Fike + instrumental version design by @star_poisoned happy 500+ twin!! the slander with continue <3 tags just in case #babydoll #dtae #amv #animation #art
