Credits: Samuel Morse, his wife for dying. rowanisthebest. History: Samuel Morse invented Morse code after his wife got sick and passed away, she couldn't get help from medics due to lack of communication, so he decided to create a code that could communicate over long distances and save people's lives by using a telegraph key to send electric pulses through a wire. Today it is used for SOS, aviation navigation, and military. It is calculated that today under a million people know Morse code today, while that may seem like a lot, there are 8.3 billion people on earth. My theory for why so few people have learned Morse code is because of SMS and advancements in technology, it's great that people can send messages to whoever they want, but it can be crucial to know Morse code in case of an emergency situation. Morse code is represented in dots and dashes (-, .)
