The 1972 MRA JR50 edition was built with its own chassis and bodywork for the first time. This was first time the racing squad manufactured and made their own bodywork but still used a detreville engine. It was a milestone for the squad since it gave them experience in car manufacturing. Although engine ideas were proposed but were deemed to expensive at the time. It still bought engines from detreville and had it shipped to the United States.
