[Prologue: "A royal blue color, of which is to come, of what you are, of what you'll become."] ____________________________________ "Do you get that sudden feeling of nostalgia sometimes when you look at something?" Open up. Chew. Swallow. Repeat. It never happened often. Only when someone new came into the circus. A welcoming feast. Which tasted like nothing but static. Jax put the piece of bread down on his plate, glancing at Pᴏmni. She was just sitting there. Processing. Jax narrowed his eyes, looking away, bringing the bread to his mouth and- SNAP! All of a sudden the table wasn't there. All of a sudden Pᴏmni knew what she was. All of a sudden it had been a few months since Pᴏmni had joined the circus. And it was the same old same old. Caine put them on an adventure. Zooble walked away. The adventures were never fun. Until Abel. But Abel wasn't real. Was he? Clicking the red button seemed to swallow the room in the color. "...What did you just do?" Ragatha's voice got Jax out of his thoughts. He turned his head, looking at her. "I...I-" The room went black, before the screen the console was starting to open. Caine appeared. Starting to talk about some good ending about this stupid adventure. And it was over as quickly as it started. But everything was different. Everyone wanted to 'abandon the thought of leaving' and 'stick together.' Ugh.. Jax got up off the couch and began walking away. "Hey." Zooble's voice made him stop and glare at them. "That includes you too, we don't need you wandering off and abstracting or something." They said, narrowing their eyes slightly. "You might be a jerk and all that, but-" "If you think I'm actually capable of abstracting, you're stupid." Jax snapped, glaring over at Zooble. Zooble stared at Jax for a moment, before rolling their eyes. "Whatever. Don't expect me to pity you." Jax walked off- walking into his room, slamming his door behind him, locking it, walking over to his bed and plopping down with a sigh. His room. Hiding. Because he knew, and he knew it well enough nobody had to even say it to him. He ruined everything. It wouldn't be like this if he just stayed in the back. It wouldn't be like this if the blue button was clicked. Even though it was an adventure. Why couldn't he have the smallest bit of hope that he could actually escape the circus? But that's right. He's the funny one. This was supposed to be funny. But Jax couldn't bring himself to laugh. Instead he just laid in bed, staring at the ceiling. He narrowed his eyes, before looking away. None of this would've happened if Pᴏmni never put on the stupid headset. This is her fault. "Jax..." Jax lifted his head, noticing Gangle's voice. Why did she sound so... scared? He lifted himself to his feet, starting to walk towards the voice. He couldn't stop drooling. It's like he wasn't himself. He put his hand on a wall and looked around it, noticing Gangle and Ragatha whispering frantically. Ragatha noticed Jax, quickly pushing Gangle behind her. Jax took a step forward, staring at Ragatha. "Stay back!" She said. Jax took another step forward, grabbing Ragatha by the arm and pulling her close to him. "STOP!" Gangle pleaded. But Jax didn't hear that. He didn't know what he heard. But he took a large bite off of Ragatha's face. Unsatisfied, he looked at Gangle, dropping now limp figure on the ground. "O-Oh my god..." Gangle backed up, before bolting off. Jax just stood there, watching her go, blinking simply, then turning back to Ragatha. Jax sat up quickly, his breathing quick, before relaxing, getting out of bed, opening his door and walking out- back towards the couches. He didn't see anyone there. "THERE YOU ARE!" Caine smiled, grabbing Jax, opening a portal. "I was scared you were going to miss out on the adventure! It's so good, even Zooble went!" He boomed. Jax stared at Caine for a moment, processing. "...what-?" He muttered, still half-asleep- but before he got an answer- Jax got thrown into the portal.
