Check if your question is here before posting it on my main (@medians). You can also click the green flag to listen to music. Back to portal: https://scratch.mit.edu/projects/785703280/ Q: Who was Raccoon Potato? A: The joke is that there was a topic in Suggestions about adding more sprites. However, the topic creator forgot the comma in the first post, so it said "raccoon potato" instead of "raccoon, potato". This led to a joke about it, and I decided to make an image for it. They soon added the comma (less than 1 day later), which is when raccoon potato had a R.I.P. Q: Why do you use Scratch 2.0? A: I like the type of design and layout that it uses a lot more over the other Scratch versions (ex. what was used design-wise, the stage on the left, the colors, etc). The only extensions that I "use" that are in Scratch 3.0 are the ones that weren't extensions in Scratch 2.0, and I don't really see a need for a lot of stuff that was added in 3.0 (at least for me). A lot of the blocks have workarounds very easily made. The extensions don't have the exact stuff, which you especially can see by looking at it vs 2.0. I need a lot of the features in Scratch 2.0, some not even included in forbidden word. It feels fun and nostalgic to click the question mark and go through the Tips Window. For a lot of things, scratchblocks takes forever to fix and type, and I find it easier to just place the blocks for those things. The Tips Window is also useful for explaining blocks to others. Q: Why does insert project have shared from scratch 2 editor offline? A: It was made in v385/404 or I shared it from there. Q: Are you actually from Afghanistan? A: No, I set my location to that as a joke. Q: Do you do F4F? A: No Q: What does bamboozled by Scratch 3.0 mean? A: On AFD (April Fools Day) in a topic on the forum, this series of posts was made because of a feature introduced in Scratch 3.0 that I forgot about (I made an edit asking about it): https://web.archive.org/web/20230401210842/https://scratch.mit.edu/discuss/topic/673785/?page=4 If you scroll down, you can see Fun_Cupcake_i81 joked about it, saying "I think you're getting bamboozled by Scratch 3.0". After this, I started a conversation on her profile, linking to other posts as a joke because she used that term and I said "Am I getting "bamboozled" by Scratch 3.0?" Near the end of the conversation, she stated she wanted to make a projects with slides with these, and I said yes, asked her to update the project, and also gave some other titles it could be. She put the titles as alt titles, and updated it until 25 slides. k7e got permission to continue the project, and it got 60 slides (last time I checked). However, the project was taken down, k7e also removed the remixes they made. I explained in comments that I gave permission to them after the takedown, and k7e linked one of them in the Notes and Credits of their remix. The original later was put back up, but the remix was taken down some time after, so I had to explain that it was taken down instead of the original this time, and it got put back up. The original 2 projects are currently NFEd. Q: What will happen to 2.0 and 1.x projects with the legacy version? A: 2.0 projects that haven't been edited will not have a GitHub upload, but ones that have will. This includes the version detecting projects. Q: Where does your PFP/profile picture come from on medians? A: My PFP comes from a YouTube video, and was initially intended for April Fools in 2023, but I just kept it. Q: Why does Scratch Cat look different in some of your projects? What Scratch version do you use? A: My projects are created using Scratch 2.0, so some of them feature the 2.0 Scratch Cat, which may be what you mean. Q: What do you use to make mockups on the forums? A: To make mockups for stuff on the website and Scratch blocks, you can edit the image and use dropdowns from a specific Scratch version, and use inspect element (I recommend having pre-existing knowledge of web development for this), use mods of Scratch that have the feature (you can also make a mod yourself). Without editing the image, you can also do this in vanilla Scratch 2.0 (this is what I do to make it easier too, without having to make a new .swf file): 1. Make sure to use a 2.0 online editor .swf file for this. You can do this by using the online editor, or through a .swf file. You can also use Flash Player to run .swf files. 2. You can then use "Edit Block Colors" to color any variables, custom block parameters, lists, and custom blocks how you want. To do this, you can shift click the Edit button in a 2.0 online editor build (does not work in the 2.0 offline editor), and click "Edit Block Colors" 3. You can then name variables, lists, custom blocks, and custom block parameters how you want. 4. NOTE: Everything said here was fixed in v423: To add things like numerical inputs, dropdowns, etc, you can use a bug that was in Scratch 2.0. You can use arguments listed here (will be moved to
the real wiki page later): https://en.scratch-wiki.info/wiki/User:Medians/Sandbox/Arguments_(1.4_and_2.0) For example, you can have variables named "on" and "off", and then name a custom block "set turbo mode %m.variable" to have a dropdown with "on" and "off" You can also use "@greenFlag" and "@stop" to generate a stop sign or a green flag. Q: How do you use the Scratch 1.x offline editor? A: Going past the browser warning works here, and you should be able to install the offline editor. Just simply pick the 1.4 image file. If you're on Mac OS 11 or on mobile, you can use the launcher here: https://squeak.js.org/ This will allow you to choose any .image file, and you can simply upload the 1.4 image file. After saving projects, they will appear in the box that says "Drop Squeak images and other files here", and you can save them to your computer. Q: What operating systems do you use? What browsers do you use? A: See https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:MediansSC/My_Userboxes#OS_and_Device (I also use OS X Mavericks, and I do have Big Sur, but I mostly just use it for ROMS I already had on there) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:MediansSC/My_Userboxes/2#Internet_and_Browsers Q: What is your favorite Windows version? What is your least favorite Windows version? A: My favorite is Windows Vista (Windows 7 is my second), and my least favorite is Windows 11 (I never used Windows ME [aka. Windows Mistake E-], so I don't have an opinion on the version, I do have Windows 2K though [which I had instead of ME]) Q: Where does your main account's username (medians) come from? Where does your GitHub username come from? A: Median is a real word, and medians is just the plural form. I used "medlans" on GitHub because "medians" was taken and the lowercase "L" looks like an uppercase "i." Q: Why is the text cut off in certain projects? A: This is caused by a Scratch 3.0 bug, which often occurs when you upload a project from 2.0 to 3.0. The text here is supposed to say: "Credit to GameFreak for the songs! (from Pokemon prototypes and Emerald)" Note: it stopped getting cut off for me, so hopefully it isn't right now for you Q: Have you ever used Windows 10 and 11? Do you ever want to go to Windows 10 or 11? A: Yes, though I no longer run those OSes. However, I don't want to go back to them. Q: What is the earliest version of Scratch that you've used? A: If prototypes are included, then I believe the October 2003 build (I don't think I've used the June 2003 restored build). Otherwise, it would be Scratch 1.0. Q: What is the earliest version of Windows that you've ever used? A: Excluding prototypes, Windows 1.0. Otherwise, Windows Premiere Edition if I remember correctly.
