That’s weird, I thought all of the Pantalan forests were gone… She walked through the trees and saw the familiar shapes of Glasswing and Autumn in the distance moving away. “Wait for me!” She called out, but they didn’t hear her. She quickened her pace to catch up to them. As she ran, a fog lowered, covering the silhouettes of her siblings. All Flicker could see a white cloud of mist, and she was lost. But as she continued on, she began to hear a voice, faint and soft as the wind. At first, she thought she was hearing things, but it repeated itself, stronger this time. “You’re almost there, you can do it, Flicker. Just run towards the light… You can do it…” “What light?” Flicker asked to the air. After getting no reply, she looked ahead and noticed a faint glow beyond the trees and fog. She ran towards it, not letting anything stop her, the wind buffeting her sides, encouraging her to go on. “Yes, you’re almost there! Come on, Flicker, we’re waiting for you!” The voice melted into her brother and sister’s. “Flicker!” She kept running, and then everything faded away into darkness. “Flicker!” She heard a voice. Opening her eyes, she looked outside her cocoon, but only saw Glasswing, and not Autumn. It must’ve been a dream, then, but it felt so real. “I’m awake,” Flicker groaned, still exhausted. Her brother was watching her, and he looked the same as before Metamorphosis, except for the translucent wings in place of his wingbuds. She turned around and noticed the peachy yellow-orange wings on her back. “Glasswing! We finally have our wings!” She exclaimed. “That’s great,” her brother said, then lowered his voice to a whisper. “Except my wings are translucent, like a HiveWing’s. That’s bound to raise suspicion, right?” “Don’t worry so much, HiveWings won’t think much of what a SilkWing looks like! They barely pay attention to us!” Flicker observed. “Anyways, what are you going to make for your Metamorphosis tapestry? I might do a sunset. Come on, let’s go spend our last few nights in our cell together before they reassign us.” “Yeah, okay,” She heard Glasswing mumble as they headed upstairs. At the rooftop garden, Flicker closed her eyes and inhaled, glad to feel sunlight and wind on her scales again. She hovered a few inches in the air, just to test out her new wings, and smiled down at her brother. I can’t wait to see what the future brings for us.
