hi guys ! i'm a young writer who would love to be an author! i hope u like this !... This book is based in the victorian times! CHAPTER TWO I held tightly on the crumpled paper and looked at the note Henry had given me. I decided that when I get home I shall write to him. But, I needed to figure out how long it would be until I arrived at my home. "Excuse me, sir? Do you know how far Oakley manor is?" "Yes, Milady. It is a few miles away, a short drive." The taxi driver nodded and focused on driving. I nodded thoughtfully. "Thank you!" I then looked out of the window, trees now coming into view and I saw Oakley Manor. I knew I was lucky, to be rich and have beautiful gowns but I was always expected to be graceful and I was the far opposite. " 'Ere we are, Milady!" He said in his cockney accent. "Please, call me Miss Oakley," I nodded at the driver as he opened my door. "Thank you!" He looked surprised and nodded. "Of course, Miss Oakley." I walked away from him and approached Oakley Manor. "Good evening, Miss Charlotte. Come inside, your mother is trying some dresses with Elizabeth." The youngest servant, Millie smiled at me and nodded. She was the sweetest child and my favourite. "How was your evening, Millie?" Millie looked up at me and grinned politely. "Well, I helped cook some afternoon tea and dinner. Oh yes, Mrs Oakley said to make sure you were on time for afternoon tea, and I shan't let you be late!" She laughed. I nodded thoughtfully and followed her inside. "Charlotte! Where have you been!" My mother ran over to me, wearing a white, flowing ball gown. I guessed it was new. "Oh, Mother! I missed the train but then a handsome gentleman, about my age, ordered a taxi for me! He was so kind!" Mother looked at me with a small smile and laughed. "Oh, really? Well, was he polite enough to give you his address to write?" "Yes! He did, Mother!" I exclaimed, grinning at her. "Come, lets try some dresses, I have the perfect one and then you will attend your class." Mother stated and smiled at me, walking slowly behind. I groaned silently and Millie smirked at me sweetly. "Millie, can you fetch Elizabeth and Thomas from the library?" Mother ordered, giving Millie a small smile. "Yes, Mrs Oakley," she squeaked and ran off to the library. Thomas is my younger brother, he is seven years old and behaves well for his age, probably because he is father's favourite. He always wears a button up jacket and breeches.
