im sorry but im not TOO impressed by YG next monster and this is a hot take but: evelli is at best a good rapper and not this prodigy theyre making her seem like she is. after two years of training, she stayed GLUED ON BEAT, didnt show a complex flow or anything, i think her speed and diction is impressive though, she did well with that! her dancing is average. her vocals are....HOW CAN I EVALUATE? we havent seen them! her stage presence is what saved her in that rap, her stage presence is good (good is better than above average when i use it, its infuriating that good means average in the eyes of most people now, average dancing is not good dancing.) regarding her delivery it was the same as all other idol rappers but it was above average but strip away that confidence and stage presence you have an idol rapper (she didnt write her own bars so no she is not a rapper YET) who doesnt understand the pocket YET, an aspect of flow, which is one of the five most important things in rapping (flow, speed, diction, delivery, lyricism). the rhythms in the song werent anything hard so her flow is average, her speed and diction are above average, her delivery is above average which means talented idol rapper but not elite or top tier. (but should we expect her to be top tier..? come on guys shes a trainee) lyricism is nonexistent so i cant evaluate it and being honest i bet we wont be able to evaluate it for years yg never lets female idols write their own bars which is so annoying because i bet evelli has good lyricism, and even if not i bet we all want to see what she can do when she picks up the pen.i think thats enough for evelli lets go to chanya. chanya has great stage presence which is rare because we basically never see any people being vulnerable in kpop anymore its all "fake swag, aggressive, fear me, lets dance boy" (no, i am not hating on the genre - i love the genre - but the new trends involve all those things and its sorta disappointing for people who want variety, however that is an OPINION and CHOICE not fact.) but anyway her stage presence as i said is definitely impressive. however her vocals seemed strained in her cover of the grudge. her vocal tone is pretty imo but being honest it was hard to understand what she was saying, however cursive is a pretty style and the soulful performance made the performance definitely good. my point is, she has a nice vocal tone but the cursive is really overdone. that doesnt take away from her skill level overall however its a subjective topic, you wouldnt say someone is untalented because you dont like their vocal tone i hope. her dance is average but its not like average is a bad thing, her vocals dare i say were not strained enough to be considered average or below average shes still an above average vocalist. i bet she will change the straining by the time of debut, theyre debuting in 2027. overall, im trying to say this: these girls are definitely talented. their stage presence is both great (for evelli, however, great is a stretch but oh well some would disagree because they think stage presence is just "dont look blank" and i dont want to get into a five year debate about something thats not even my point)
their vocals (chanya) and rapping (evelli) are above average so yes they are talented BUT they are severely overhyped and they have issues which need to be fixed before debut, and people need to stop treating them, specifically evelli, like once in a lifetime rap/vocal prodigies when theyre not there YET though i am CONFIDENT they will be there someday. im not saying they never WILL be - they have a lot of time - but currently they are not and people need to acknowledge that. im not hating on the two girls, ill likely stan them, but their skills are not on that level of impressive currently. BUT HERE IS ONE IMPORTANT PART: these girls are TRAINEES, not debuted idols, and for trainees? theyre crazy talented, im holding them to a standard much too high for their trainee status and i think other critics are too. truthfully i want them to improve on their issues - which are rather fixable if you ask me - before debut so they can be known as a really talented group. the girls are not the problem the problem is how overhyped they are. well they do have some issues but theyre not the MAIN problem had people acknowledged those issues i would have never written this. (THIS NEW AREA WAS WRITTEN ON 4/29/26. THE EARLIER PARAGRAPHS WERE WRITTEN TEN DAYS AGO.) today there was a new revealed member kayci and i have few negative things...shes the most talented member currently (today is april 29) shes so beautiful and talented!!! but maybe 2 young... like why are they debuting a 13 year old? shell be like 14/15 at debut i think, i forgot her birthday. im shocked at how she wasnt the first revealed member! like yg always favors rappers but oh well... but being honest, her high note was really strained. her voice is pretty but i hope she learns better texhnique in the future, because she was very strained on higher notes...shes 13 tho shell improve HOWEVER WHAT ON EARTH?? SHE WAS BORN IN 2012! yg needs to stop, i thought chanya would be the maknae... im so scared for the fourth member because kayci was born in 2012....shes 13 like she better be the maknae. if theres a member born in 2013/2014/later.....im not surprised unfortunately yg is yg and they just love minors... im not sure if you guys will take my opinions well but im not trying to hate. sorry for such a long essay lol. good luck on your debut YG NEXT MONSTER, i wish you the best, and i'll always support you!
