Hello everyone! Today, ill be discussing my unpopular and controversial s-pop opinions! I've seen a lot of these and usually theyre kind of popular opinions but ill be sharing ACTUAL things ppl dont talk about often. Also, dont get offended by anything i say. This isnt targetted towards anyone, nor is what i say correct, so take this with a grain of salt. 1. Ppl glazing vocals On literally every cover or audition folder, you'll see loads of comments hyping them up being like "YESS YOU ATE THAT UP!!" "THESE VOCALS ARE HEAVENLY!" "YOUR VOICE IS SO SOOTHING!" and the vocals sound like the bare minimum that you would except from an idol or just sound tone death. Like ok we get it you're a people pleaser- Also, i feel like ppl be tossing around the expression "heavenly vocals" too much. Like they're meant to be vocals which are soothing, angelic, easy to listen to, and generally have a high vocal range. Even for vocals that are considered "good", They're really not that "heavenly" They're just really unique and great! 2. Lack of criticism and training Ok this kind of plays into the last one, but i hate how ppl never give constructive criticism. On the other hand, you could argue that unwanted criticism when the singer didnt give permission to is kind of annoying, and ye- i do partially agree, but i think giving a piece of feedback for when someone posts something while keeping the overall message positive would be great for approval. I also DEFINETLY think more companies should be giving constructive criticism, thats kind of their job... no? Also I'd think something more companies should do is instead of just picking the best vocalists for a group actually give people advice, ask them to sing songs and then share their opinion each time, kind of like a solo survival show. 3. Lack of effort when producing songs This is very much something very common even within the top groups and companies but the lack of effort put into the audio mixing by companies. Like when you're listening to a song covered by a group and all the members are at different volumes. Thats totally the companies fault. Its so easy to just make the quieter trackers louder and the loud tracks quieter. I also think its annoying when they dont remove bg sound. Like sure, some bg sound is hard to remove but all you need to do is put on a noise gate. THATS ALL. 4. "Self"-produced songs When a song is "self-produced" but the instrumental is literally off of youtube. like girl thats not self produced thats self WRITTEN. Also, i feel like not a lot of effort is put into SOME self written songs. The instrumentals they choose are always kind of loops so the song ends up having no chorus, verse, bridge etc... just a whole bunch of likes put into paragraphs while the tone just stays the same the entire time. I understand writing a song is difficult and it takes time to improve, so not having a perfect song is totally understandable, however I just feel not much emotions and actual understanding is put into some lyrics. 5. Companies using AI Its so obvious when their using ch4tgpt. I just find it really annoying because ai is horrible at spop related stuff. the logos never look like logos and just have a horrible style, and dont get me STARTED on the descriptions. Since ch4tgpt doesnt know what spop is, it always invents something that just sounds really bad like "We don't only make k-pop groups on scratch - we make dreams come true ✨" Like hun.. if youre too lazy to do the bare minimum dont make a company? 6. Intros in different languages My biggest pet peeve ever oml. The whole point of an intro is speaking in a language you speak, so tell me why im listening to an intro that was google translated and was literally guessed on how to pronounce it..? like i see someone attempting a spanish intro and i think, "oh ok! Well spanish is the easiest language ever, they cant fail this...!" and instead of "hola, me llama ..." i hear the person say "hala! Mei lawmah ...!" Like was it that hard to click the text to speech button to see how it was pronounced? Like thats just embarassing for you bby.... anyways thats it FOR NOW. i had so many other ideas but i forgot all of them cuz im brain dead. anyways again, dont get offended, and feel free to share your own opinions!
