= INSTRUCTIONS = Welcome to Wario's Puzzle League Woods! Wario has taken over the Woods again, and Toad, with the help of the friendly Sprite, must win Wario's Puzzle League and defeat him. The league consists of two levels: VS Sequence, where opponents must sequentially fight other opponents directly, and Line Clear, where opponents race to clear a set amount of lines. Line up 3 or more panels orthoganally to make them POP! Line up monsters and bombs in lines of 3 or more orthoganally or diagonally to make them POP! Get consecutive pops to make a combo! Now, how do you do it? Use [W], [A], [S], and [D] for moving the cursor. Then, press [SPACE] to swap panels! [E] does an "upstrike", which sends the blocks to the top of the stack... if there's room! Press [Q] to raise the stack quicker. Pay attention to the icons before each round indicating a monster's type: ✥ - Only orthogonal matches for these! (Panels) X - Only diagonal matches for these! (Scrams and Beakers) x2 - You have to hit these twice to get these off the board! (Spook and Dovo) Dice - Once you hit this, it changes its color! (Dovo) Watch out for garbage! The only way to make it pop is to make a pop on the top row below them. Luckily, you'll hit one line of every "block" of garbage, but gray lines will stop that! = EXTENDED STORY = Line Clear comes before VS Sequence. Toad's Route is the canonical route for both. Toad's Line Clear Toad hears about Wario's Puzzle League, and thinks it an innocent matchup. However, as a qualifying round, he must first complete Line Clear. Wario sends his old cronies from Wario's Woods (SNES) to keep him out. 1. Katsini and Galrog - The important thing here is that Garlog's done training. 2. Harley Q and Sam Spook - Sam Spook doesn't have a head under the pumpkin. 3. Sven and Parrotor - Sven entirely lacks Scandinavian ancestry. He's actually a proud Irishman. 4. Monsieur Boo and Aqualea - Aqualea straight up has an identity crisis once you beat her because she's extremely narcissistic. Boo secretly hated being her teammate. 5. Razor and Tad Rock - Razor is a Marioverse native without Zeldanian descent, and finds it offensive if you call him a Zora. 6. Thak and Lizardon - Lizardon is personally offended whenever a Japanese asks him why he isn't orange. 7. Sarissa and Manglyox - Sarissa's flesh isn't flesh-colored, despite seeming human. 8. Dedar and Carlton - Dedar's female, and Carlton is male. Carlton already has a mate, so don't ask. 9. Harry H and Green Toad - It's questionable whether Green Toad is a normal toad being hypnotized by Harry H or a machine Wario built for him that happens to be controllable by pocketwatch. 10. Mario and Wanda - Mario finds nothing wrong with this tournament, for whatever reason. Toad's VS Sequence Toad's finally onto the main attraction! A round robin with every opponent, it's finally time to fight some Popples and Dinosaur Land pals! 1. Yoshi and Lip - Yoshi is yet to suffer a Yoshi Dismount from Lip. 2. Windy and Lakitu - Windy does not seem to want to be participating. Despite this, she still clearly involuntarily swaps blocks. 3. Sherbet and Bumpty - Sherbet is trans. (Bumpty is stupid enough to reveal his deadname's Tink.) 4. Thiana and Poochy - Poochy seems to be more in control of where he's going than his rider. 5. Ruby and Flutter - Why did Ruby team with Flutter? No one knows why. 6. Elias and Froggy - Elias actually has a better affinity with Lunge Fish. 7. Flare and Gargantua Blargg - Stepping inside someone's mouth was not an established character trait of Flare. 8. Neris and Lunge Fish - Neris previously despised Lunge Fish prior to the tournament. 9. Seren and Raphael - Seren was previously a narcissist. Toad feels there's something weird going on with the tournament, and tries to run backstage once he defeats Raphael, thinking she was the last opponent. However, Wario announces that Toad has four final opponents! 10. Pheonix and Hookbill - Pheonix turns into Kain after this fight. 11. Dragon and Naval Piranha - Naval Piranha is only barely resisting straight-up eating Dragon. 12. Kamek and Thanatos - Kamek claims that Bowser has his own partner... "but really?". Toad thinks. 13. Cordelia and Bowser - Rumours are going 'round that Cordelia was actually a creation of the Three Witch Sisters (who haven't been seen in years). Just as Toad thinks it's finally time to get his trophy, Wario announces one final opponent.. himself on Zilba! As reality collapses around them, Toad has to "H-H-Hurry Up!" himself to beat Wario before reality ends. After beating the tournament, Toad finally goes backstage, finding a machine half-resembling an alarm clock and half-resembling the Dream Machine back in Subcon. After Ground Pounding it, something weird happens with the fairies: they all start panicking! As it turns out, the machine was a way to supress the fairies' wills so the Dinosaur Landers could play panel: they've now snapped back to reality!
