20.4.2028 - 5:00 PM Moscon Standard Time. 43 Bolshaya Yakimanka Street, Moscon - Neuvellonian Embassy in Moscon. Émile Sinclair - Head Ambassador to Moscon --------------------------------------------------------------- This was not how it was supposed to go. Only 24 hours ago, Émile was on his phone, joking with his colleagues in Fontaine that "Tanakvik will have to nuke Taikavia for them to surrender!" Émile only heard of rumors floated by the Tanakvikian diplomats he had to interact with recently; he never saw the nuclear options. Tanakvikians always seemed to be a little more rational than some of their Western counterparts. Émile called up several Kremlin officials, most of whom responded in the same line, "They're terrorists, it's what they get and deserve." Émile slams the door to his office, dropping his briefcase and dialing Fontaine. Knowing his communications with Neuvellon are under Tanakvikian surveillance, he tries to select his words carefully. "Tanakvik is planning to use nuclear weapons." He gasps, placing his palm over his mouth, and braces for the sounds of Tanakvikian shouting and soldiers. But, alas, nothing. Fontiane responds on the other end. "Affirmative." Fontaine hangs up, Émile musters up the courage to finally breathe. Thirty minutes later, President Alphonse Fresnel, Prime Minister Éloise Marchand, both the President of the Senate (Camille Duvivier) and of the National Assembly (Étienne Marceau), and Queen Furina stood before a crowd in Fontaine. Alphonse Fresnel started with these words: "For a nation of such might to resort to nuclear arms against nothing more than a bundle of islands is nothing but cowardice." Neuvellon will be responding against Tanakvik if nuclear arms are to be launched.
