The two red dots got closer to their location on the map. The sound of footsteps echoed through the halls. Ro got into a fighting stance, and so did Sonar. Their eyes stayed on the open door. Ro swallowed. He didn't know if he even had enough energy to toss a table, let alone fight. Sonar stepped forward, and he glanced towards Ro before his eyes narrowed and focused on the door as the sound of footsteps got louder. Two shapes came through, sliding to a stop in front of the room. The dim lighting let the white diamond on one of their visors to glow brightly. The one with a visor instead of an eye was a blue fox, her other eye wide, as if shocked to see them. Accompanying her was a tall purple dog with a singular floppy ear that had a chip in it. His hazel eyes were locked and narrowed. Within the millisecond that they came into view, Sonar leaped into action, swiftly kicking the fox and sending her backwards. The dog pulled out the bat that was strapped to his back and swung, narrowly missing Sonar. Ro and the fox, who had been knocked to the ground, made eye contact before watching as the two got into a stalemate after a couple of harsh blows to each other. The dog tried to swing his bat, but Sonar had caught it. The two snarled at each other as they tried to get the upper hand. The dog looked down at the blue fox and barked, "Don't just sit there! Help me out!" "Well, I don't realy see how I could help you with that." The fox shrugged before turning to Ro and speaking, "Plus, he's not doing nothing either." Sonar looked back to Ro and spoke through gritted teeth, "Stop watching and do something, cat-boy!" Ro stepped forward, suddenly unsure. He should help, but... actually... Ro looked towards the cyborg fox, her robotic eye looking at him. These guys clearly were loyal to Sage, plus, how did they know they were here? Sonar let out a small gasp as the dog quickly stepped back before slamming the bat into Sonar's chest. Ro finally snapped away from his thoughts and leaped into battle. Tackling into the dog, the two fell into the hard tile. Ro's powers shot a painful electrical signal through him as he did so. Ro was never good at hand-to-hand combat. The dog easily knocked Ro off him, only ending up with some shallow scratches on his arm. The dog raised his bat and went to swing at Ro. Raising his hand, Ro used the last bit of energy he had left to spare. With a flick of his wrist, the bat flew across the room. The loud clang caused all attention to go yonder. The dog stared wide-eyed at his hands, where the bat had once been. Sonar and the fox had stopped their little battle. Ro let out a breath that he hadn't realized he was holding. All eyes went to him. "You... You have powers..." The dog blinked. "How did you? What?" The fox breathed. Sonar stepped away from the fox to look directly at Ro, "... That wasn't a joke? YOU'VE HAD POWERS THIS WHOLE TIME!?" Ro nodded, his ears pinning against his head. "I thought you were some helpless femboy!" Sonar gestured to him. "You didn't know your friend had powers?" The fox blinked, leaning on her hip. "That's just sad... If I had powers, then I'd definitely tell my friends." The dog shook his head. Ro scooted away from the dog before he sat up, "I did! He just didn't believe me." "Yeah, I can see that. I mean, if Finch told me that he could control ice or fire, I wouldn't believe him." The fox shrugged. She then looked to Sonar and crossed her arms, "Why did you attack us, by the way?" "Because you guys were obviously coming to attack us!" Sonar spoke as if this were basic knowledge. Ro nodded along. The dog huffed, "No, we're just exploring this place and happened to spot you two!" "Then how come you came straight here?" Sonar questioned, his tone accusatory. "Because we've been exploring this Eggman Base for months!" The fox exasperatedly explained. "Oh... I guess that'd make sense." Ro slowly nodded. "W-What!? No, it doesn't! Obviously, she's lying!" Sonar's nose scrunched. "Eqlips has no reason to lie. If anybody does it's you!" The dog pointed to Sonar and stepped closer to him. Ro stood up and walked between the two, "He's not lying. And personally, I don't think she'd lie. She seems trustworthy despite..." Ro stopped himself from finishing his thought. Her ears drooped, and she grabbed her right arm as she spoke, "Despite my cyborg parts? If it makes you feel any better, I didn't choose to get them." Ro lowered his hands. He hated to admit that the only reason he was even doubting whether to trust her was because of the cybernetics. Sonar scoffed and crossed his arms. The dog frowned and did the same. The two were about the same height, but the purple dog was slightly taller. The blue fox, Eqilps, walked over to stand beside the dog.
Now that he could get a clear view of them, Ro mentally took note of the two. On the lavender dog's body were uniform, darker purple spots, as well as his eyelids. His muzzle, inner ears, and stomach were white. He wore an open black leather jacket with a red hood. His pants were mismatched, one pant being red and baggy, the other being black and ending above his knee. Eqlips had a darker blue muzzle, inner ear, eyebrow dots, tail tip, stomach, and hair/fur tips. Her one organic left eye faded from red to orange. Her robotic right eye was square, and the visor part that was normally black dimly faded from orange to red, with the white diamond acting as a pupil. Her jacket was orange and unzipped, showing the black crop-top underneath and her stomach. Ro spotted the silver metal going down her right side. From what he could tell, only part of her torso and eye were robotic. Her pants were a bold orange and baggy. "So who are you guys even?" Sonar asked. "I'm Eqlips. And this is Finch, my best bud!" Eqlip's introduced. "I'm Ro, and this is Sonar." Ro smiled. He rubbed the back of his head, "This is a very strange way to meet you guys, to be honest. Kinda awkward." "Tell me about it," Finch rolled his eyes. "So, what were you guys doing here anyway?" Eqlips tilted her head, her large amount of head floof falling to the side. Ro glanced towards Sonar before slowly speaking, "Well... We're trying to find-“ Sonar interrupted Ro, “-Ro’s parents.” Ro glanced up at Sonar who had a warning look in his eyes as he narrowly glared down at the cat.
