Unfortunately, this is one negative effect that outsourcing the animation can have on a cartoon. The foreign animators are very much likely to tone down the drawings. Anecdote time: John Kricfalusi of Ren & Stimpy fame actually had to fly from the US to Korea during projects to make sure that the animators actually use the storyboards. Then he had to fly back to the States while the finished animation is sent there. Imagine how exhausting and frustrating that is just to maintain the life and energy in the drawings! I think that the actual animation should be done in the country again. It’ll provide lots of jobs to artists. But then the Asian studios will lose work and they’ll lose their jobs. Arrrgh! Why must everything be so complicated???
