The people of Utopia were deeply unsettled. Their god had been in a foul mood lately, sequestered away in its home and brooding in silence. This had never happened before- not during the Great Tragedy, when humans first arrived seeking shelter (Dysdaimon xemself knew that xey would have been saddened, if it had been xem). While the residents worried, Dysdaimon realized this was the perfect moment to slip away. Dysdaimon sat on the edge of xyr bed, legs dangling. Outside, the day was bright, and xyr mattress was comfortable, just as they always were. Everything was exactly the same. People heading out for work, people chatting in the streets. To Dysdaimon, it was all incredibly boring. Xey stood and headed for the door. Xey weren't going to tend the garden or visit the neighbors today. Xey had a different plan. Xey were leaving. Others had tried it before, it was physically possible, but they always came back. They claimed a strange feeling of harm overwhelmed them and that their gifts began to act up the further they went. Dysdaimon looked down at xyr arm, studying the smooth porcelain that covered part of xyr hand. Xey didn’t remember getting it; no one ever did. You simply woke up one day and it was there. It was a common enough occurrence. However, since xyr gift was small, xey mused that the journey shouldn't be too painful. The teenager walked down the stairs. Everything was pristine: the buildings shined and the floor felt like walking on clouds. Xey were sick of it. Xey craved real adventure. So, xey made xyr way to the glistening golden gate that kept them all inside. Xey knew where xey wanted to go. According to rumors, there was another civilization far away where people could be themselves, flaws and all. To Dysdaimon, humanity wasn’t truly human if it had to live up to a god's expectations. Dysdaimon stood at the gate, staring at the world on the other side, and stepped through. ----------------------------------- This is OORP knowledge, your character does not know this.
