Ever since the OG timeline. Big gigantic space empires, some claiming to own thousands of entire universes. have barged into Sol, and completely screw up RP on earth for everyone. It doesn't make logical sense other then Sol being a special system. It makes even less sense when the space around Sol is controlled by other space empires, some native to Sol, and thus block access. To be a gigantic space empire and claim say a small asteroid or plot of land on earth, would be like Russia annexing a city block in the smack middle of Kansas. Its not even adjacent to their home territory, is in the heartland of native Sol empires that control it with a buzz of activity. You cannot just stealth into it, or portal into it, transwarp into, or magic magic abracadabra into it. Not with the space in and around it controlled by separate states with the technology, defenses, and mentality to prevent it. And that is not including the Gem war, where millions of ships and quadrillions of enemy troops are in the way in all directions. In both timelines, OG, and NE, I have devoted my nation to preventing this. While being careful not to abuse my own powers of being a space empire, as seen in WW7, where Star-Force was not present in inner Sol, in RP because of the gems, but Out of RP because I wanted to make things fairer. It is an exhausting role, dealing with the BS of power player after power player, making excuses that they are able to sneak in. And every now and then, I crack. I cracked with Jansan and his portal to Israel, I cracked with the Borg and Ida with their expeditionary force to Sol, and cracked with Corsairia who had refugee status with the implication of becoming a earth nations. Yet I see these are being abused. Corsairia is not as bad as the other two, but technically is cut off from their space empire due to the war, and are using modern tactics like stealth jet attacks or somthin But at least Corsairia is in character and contributing to decent war. The Borg and Jansan are outright powerplaying and abusing my cracks. Now, I could just go "I'm the emperor, I void you, blah, blah. I'm the greatest, blah" But I believe that's a bit unfair. Plus, the thing about power players, is their RP is inherently flawed, and can be exploited against them. For example. Jansan is getting her via a portal right? Just a few portals, if not one? Then that's a chokepoint. Take the portal(s), or somehow destroy them, then their access to Sol is completely cut off. Supplies lines cut and everything. Or you could even take over where the portals are, and use them to launch your own attacks into the Jansan heartland. Maybe secure a beachhead on both sides of the portal. Or you could just void the entire portal, because its not possible. To create a gateway between here and Andromeda, which is 2.5 MILLION lightyears away. You would need enough mass(energy or matter) to warp space-time across that entire 2.5 M I L L I O N light-year gap, and punch a hole to open the gateway. The problem? There is not enough mass in Andromeda to do such a thing- The Borg is just nonsense. Just copy and pasting the Borg pros from star trek, but deleting all the cons. But you cannot have your cake and eat it.... A lot of it could be voided, but the Borg's ability to adapt is flawed and bad RP. Just saying "we adapt" to counter everything, without actually saying how you adapt is bad form. A Borg unit also would not have the resources and knowledge to adapt to every single thing, and adapting could be weaponized against them. And of course, just because it's cannon in star-trek, doesn't mean it's cannon here. But really, their entire presence in Sol should be voided. Not only is the Dominion extremely distrustful of them, but they must get past entire front lines of gem forces. Transwarp is not an option due to the disruption fields, and the Dominion's own disruptions, and its own thick lines and dense number of defenses due to the war. Seeing that the Dominion is completely correct in its suspicions towards Borg intentions in Sol(being more focused on exerting influence on earth then defending Sol, and thus compromising the defense of Sol) So it is only logical that their access, which shouldn't even be possible, be denied. And Star-Force has permission to fire onto Borg ships attempting to enter its borders, seeing them as nothing more but yet another alien empire bent on conquest and exerting influence in our own backyard. I'll leave it up to the respective enemies of the nations mentioned to either void or find a clever strategy to defeat these bloated empires. I'm just pointing out things and giving advance(and foreshadowing.....)
Also, now that I got elected. I will be attempting to put my NRP empire idea into effect. Which means adding other worlds to the galaxy for ppl to play as individual nations on. Which may mean seriously reducing big space empires in general. Not completely, but enough that they cannot just poach the young worlds and newer players. And I believe GW2 gives a great lore excuse for this... And to finally prevent this sort of nonsense from ruining ppl's RP ever again. A person playing say Albania shouldn't have to deal with a giant empire with 500 thousand universes invading them because they just exist. At that point, why not just take over the whole globe and be done with it? I shouldn't have to devote all my NRP energy into this.... We should have rules and limitations in place instead of one Ultra superpower guarding Sol. Tho, as Mused pointed out, it can bring much decent lore to the table. And to be honest, the lore of say OG timeline Marica defending Sol was glorious. But not very many big alien powers really care for lore, and that's probably why they are big alien empires to begin with. Favoring bloated numbers to win RP instead of quality. No offense to anyone mentioned here, who are just recent example. I've dealt with at least just under 100 similar empires, and compared to them, y'all are mostly ok. But you are taking this quite a bit far...
