I think it’s safe to say that I’ll flunk Math. The math here at Kamiyama is... harder than my previous school. It feels so different ... Maybe I’ll find a way to deal with it. Just staring at these numbers hurts my head. As I scan through the page once more, not really thinking about what it says, a shadow looms over me and makes the paper darker. I feel the presence of another student. I look up, and she speaks. “Are you having a hard time with that?” Her voice was calming for some reason. I reply to her. “A little bit...” She’s Mitsurugi Kura. The whole school makes up rumors about her. Apparently, her father is rich and famous or something. And she has the highest grades compared to all the students in the school. People avoid her because she’s stoic and doesn’t reply when you try to make friends with her. And out of all the people to talk to, she reached out to me. Unbelievable. “What problems are you struggling with?” she asks in that wonderful voice of hers. “I think I struggle with the whole page.” Which was true. We started working through the problems together. She seemed like a better teacher than the one in our class, and her instructions were clear and concise. And I was able to understand everything I had ignored. ~~~ While I was walking back home from school, she approached me and asked me a striking question. “Is it alright if I spend more time with you?”
