– – – – – ⌗ [ dtae !! ] – – [ intro : - hello guys!! wow im talking to a screen. omg. - soooo if you know me, you know i LOVE stranger things (i would quite genuinely give my left foot pinky toe for byler) and as soon as i saw this i lit had to enter im sorry - i reallyreally hope i finish this because i love the char (i love all of them.. i want to do more.....) but school is a huge pain - anyways!! hope you enjoy <3 – – [ character bio... name: matthew (surname tbd) age: 19 located: california, lenora sexuality: definitely bi (for reals had a huge crush on jonathan) but because of the time era, he didn't know it prns: he/him/they backstory: - matthew used to be an intern for dr brenner (filling up coffee, taking phone calls etc) because he had an interest in science, and wanted to be like brenner when he was older, maybe taking over his position. at the time, matthew had no idea what the lab was really doing, and didn't really give it much thought for a little while. soon though, he got curious, and went behind brenner's back to snoop around. he found the gate (lets pretend it was still open like a crack or something....) and went in; as he ventured further, matthew realised that the lab and dr brenner were not at all what he thought they were. - he needed to get out of there, and fast, but somehting kept pulling at him. as he went deeper, and time began to fade, he found the exotic matter. daring to go too close, it mutated him, giving him six arms and an odd connection to the upside down. dr brenner thankfully had men doing tests in the upside down and they stumbled across him. - however things took a turn for the worse as brenner began to test him as one of his subjects, examining his rare condition. matthew eventually escaped, and was able to find ways to hide his arms, thanks to an, invention of brenner's (idk guys dont flame me... this is just so when he meets the others they arent like omg what and he can actually be treated like a normal person) - matthew fled to california, away from his family and friends and the life he knew to have a fresh start in lenora. he began at first living homeless, moving from shelter to shelter, until argyle found him one day while he was sm0k!ng and befriended him. thankfully, argyle was... in 'that state', so matthew could confide in him without fear of judgement. people knew argyle's nature and wouldn't believe him even if he did mention his strange new friend with six arms and who was tested on in a lab. - matthew got a job at rink-o-mania as a parttime dj (he mainly looked after the records and stuff... hes not a huge people person) and argyle let him move in to his humble abode - soon the byers moved to lenora, and argyle befriended jonathan, taking matthew with him. matthew was fascinated by jonathan and his family (he had a crush on jonathan but whatever) and as jonathan confided in matthew about will and eleven, matthew felt safe enough to confide in him about his real backstory in turn - matthew was able to help the group with vecna, but when they left for hawkins again, he couldnt bring himself to come with them back to the place that scarred him. instead, he stayed with argyle, where it is presumed he stayed living a happy quiet life for the rest of his days personality/extra quirks: - quiet, shy, quite antisocial - doesn't speak often; when he does, his words have impact - opens up more around friends - he is incapable of hating anyone - incredibly loyal and always good at keeping secrets - sleeps with his arms and legs straight like a log - loves black and white old movies - hoardes litter in his pockets by accident - always has marmalade on toast (it reminds him of his mother) - only likes chocolate - hes a huge byler shipper - he strongly dislikes steve (from what jonathan has told him anyways) – – [ art (finally haha) 1. full design - i thought i would do a quick sketch of the full design first before actually drawing them more but then it turned into a fully rendered piece!?!??! i wasnt sure what it was on the forehead so i didnt add it, hope thats alr...... - he's just chilling, i like this pose, he looks cool ('cool.' 'cool.' byler) 2. scene??!! - okayokay so this is him going into the upside down and seeing the exotic matter (mentioned in his backstory) - drawing scenes is so hard you guys idk how you do it - the exotic matter was fun tho 3. better scene - played around with some effects making it look like he was on camera, yk i think in s1/2 when they sent men with cameras into the upside down? this was before i kinda polished his backstory (he went in alone) so maybe its more like surveillance cameras? - i kinda like this, the trees could be better but i went too far to change them so i just had to keep going [ cont. in desc ]
