Silverpelt yawned and opened her eyes. She looked around at the bracken walls around her. It had been eleven long moons since she and Juneclaw had come to ForestClan. She was back in the same old Nursery, this time one of the queens rather than a kit. She gazed lovingly down at her own two kits snuggled beside her – Florakit and Janekit. They were about a moon old by now, and were already developing their own adorable personalities. Florakit was playful, sweet, and kind, while Janekit was quiet and calculating. Tailclaw and Juneclaw didn’t quite get along, but Silverpelt still loved them both. Cedarwood, Juneclaw’s old mentor, was now retired as an elder. There was a lovely she-cat called Firefly who had taken on the role of medicine cat, while Specklestar took over from Woodstar. Rubydawn was another queen, with her son Lichenkit, who was about as energetic as Florakit. Nightflower too was an elder, but Silverpelt still thought of her like a mother. Riverfaith had given birth to another kit, Star, just before she left the Clan. Silverpelt and Juneclaw didn’t know what had happened to her, but they could feel she was alive. “Silverpelt?” Tailclaw called from outside the den. “Hello.” She called back, and Janekit and Florakit stirred. Janekit yawned, showing her small, spiky teeth, and Florakit’s eyes sprang open. “JANEKIT WAKE UPPPPP!!!” she yelped when she saw Tailclaw. “Dad’s here, DAD’S HERE!” “Be quiet, mouse-brain.” Janekit insulted her, her eyes opening to narrow slits. “Janekit, be nice!” Silverpelt and Tailclaw shouted in unison. Janekit rolled her eyes but went quiet. “Well… I’m going on Dawn Patrol tomorrow. I just thought I’d let you know.” Tailclaw meowed. Silverpelt’s face fell. “Oh, ok…” “DAD NOOOOOOO!!!” Florakit cried, rushing over and wrapping herself around his paw. He smiled. “It’s only a little while. You and Janekit won’t even realise, because you’ll still be asleep.” “Naw, StarClan!” Janekit sighed, obviously upset. “I was hoping for a quiet day, instead of whatever THIS life is.” She smiled innocently when Silverpelt and Tailclaw glared at her meaningfully, acting as if she hadn’t said anything.
