Chapter 5 I grabbed my schedule from the office and started towards period 1, Civics. I hated Civics. But, today, it seemed to go by fast. Maybe I was just happy because they let me into the Honors Band and that was the last period. I had brought my own flute. When I walked into the band room, people were everywhere. Everyone was talking about different things. Some were talking about summer, some were talking about going to the mall after school, then I noticed Charlotte in the corner with her friends. I walked over to them and set my stuff down next to Charlotte. I sat next to her and she immediately introduced me to her friends. “Luc, this is Matt, Dawn, Grace, Tommy-” “Tom, Charlotte. Tom.” Tom interrupted her. “I’ll call you what I want to, Tommy.” I saw Tom glare at her but she continued. “There’s also our fluteist, Clara. And our clarinetist, Mikayla.” I waved at them all and they waved back. I didn’t say anything. Then the band teacher - Mr. Miller - walked in. Everyone went to their seats and I went to the first open seat I could find. Lucky for me, it was a seat that a flutist was meant to sit in. The band teacher walked up to me and handed me the music for the next concert, aka the last concert of the year. I took and looked through it, mainly high notes. It looked easy enough. As the band played through the music, I was the only one who didn’t squeak even a little. At the end of band practice, me and Charlotte’s friend group walked out of the band room. I went straight to my locker, which was next to Charlotte’s, and put my stuff away, getting out my car keys and the stuff I needed to bring home. I quickly walked out of the school, Charlotte following me, and went to my car. I got in the driver seat and watched Charlotte get in the passenger seat. Charlotte directed me towards Tom’s house. I dropped her off there and drove away. I didn’t expect anything to happen, but I was wrong. ♠️♠️♠️ I walked over to Charlotte’s in the afternoon that Saturday. I walked up to the door and knocked on it. Instead of Charlotte answering, her dad did. “Hello, Luci. Is Charlotte with you?” “No Sir. I thought she was here?” “Nope. She never came home yesterday. Last I heard from her was her texting that she was at Tom’s.” “You can’t be serious.” “I am.” I stared at Charlotte’s dad deadpan before shaking my head. “O.K. Thank you sir.” I walked back home, staring at the ground. When I got inside, I ran to my room and opened the text thread between me and Charlotte. At the bottom it said Charlotte had her phone on silent. “Charlotte never has her phone on silent…” I thought aloud. I spam texted her but even after an hour, there was no reply…
The music is so amazing :3
