First: You're here! Next: https://scratch.mit.edu/projects/1320360332/ Previous: N/A I woke up and immediately something felt off. Something about my face. Looking down, I saw my mask on the floor. My mask! It must have fallen off while I was sleeping. Quickly I put it back on, threw on some clothes, and rushed downstairs to make breakfast. 'Breakfast' that morning happened to be Froot Loop dust and a bit of orange juice. I lifted my mask just a little bit and began to eat. The milk was expired, and I didn't have enough money to go shopping. My mother always said that I should provide for myself and not be a freeloader in her household. To which I would reply "If it's your household, why shouldn't you take care of it?" Okay, I lied. I always just did what she said because it was easier. I put on my backpack and remembered it was my first day at my new school. Ajax's school. Behind my mask, I smiled at the thought. I heard the bus stopping on the corner and ran out the door. Maybe this school would be different. After all, Ajax was there. He would help me. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The bus was mostly empty, so I just sat in the back and started reading The Old Man and the Sea. Ernest Hemingway was my favorite author, and I had read all of his books. The bus got to school without any incident, but they stared as soon as I walked into the building. "Olive!" someone shouted from the crowd. It was Ajax! "Ajax!" I said, running towards him. He was tall and muscular, I was short and lean. He had blonde hair, I had brown. He was popular and came from a rich family, I did not. Whoever said that opposites attract was a genius. Suddenly the stares didn't matter. I was with Ajax, and everything was right. We compared schedules and discussed plans, smiling all the way. I found out that we had 5 classes together, including our first class. We entered the classroom just as the bell rang. Judging by the grammar posters on the walls, I could tell it was English class. The other students filed in, and our teacher made his way to the front of the room.
