The Absolution 280 is a joint collaborative design between the Royal Institution of Defence Science and Technology Karsvetia, Royal Karsvetian Navy and Navy Group Neuvellon as part of the Next-Generation Airspace-Denial Aircraft-Carrier program. The program is intended to replace the ex-Neuvellon King Albert class of light carriers transferred and retrofitted in the late 1990s. The joint collaborative effort started in early 2019 and designs were completed in late 2026 with Neuvellon building the superstructure and Karsvetia handling the construction of the vessels with an estimated cost of $46 Billion spent on the entire project, with each vessel costing $4.8 Billion each. In early March 2026, the first of the class RKNS King Albert with the same pennant number of the ship in the previous class was launched at Istravik Shipyard, with commissioning expected in early August with the delivery of its superstructure. The second ship of the class, Queen Astrid is currently under construction, expected to be completed by late November Sitting at 281m with a tonnage of approximately 50,000 tons, the Absolution Class of Aircraft Carriers have a vastly increased range and carrying capacity than the previous, while also having a much improved sortie rate.
