was going to make the agents reboot a simple title but then a sudden shift in creativity said no. so uhh new title is "nothing breaks you like the deepsea", or NBYLD if you dont feel like typing all that i did take down the old refs on my alt because the updates to be made were simply too complex, moreso in lore than in character design. but i guess i can just do that here so why not there are some hints to new character traits in these little doodles i made. as for the new plot.. alice: alice was brought up as a sanitization experiment and learned to be a soldier for evil, and as she escaped to the surface when she was young she had no clue of everyday society and how the goal of sanitization was wrong. however, even as she learns of the wrong her fellow sanitized octarians (and the leader of them, her sister) did, she questions the other side- organized society- as well; they treat her badly simply because of how she appears, not who she is as a person. this turns her into an individual who yearns for peace but feels the need to take extremes to achieve it, for both herself and otherd. though not nearly as bad as other rogue octolings, those extremes are not always agreeable, do with that as you will kenta: he was brought up in a good household and had a good family who supported his wish to become an independent model. however, early in the time period in which octolings were first starting to escape to the surface, rogue octolings ('rogue' meaning sanitized- wether or not they are out of control truly depends on the situations they cause) attacked and killed his family and other people they trusted. even though kenta is ultimately kind, he is also of the opinion that ALL rogue octolings are not to be trusted because of what they did to both his family and other people they care about. sakura: she grew up in a good household, but the catch is that things STAYED good. she had good and present family, they lived in an area completely safe from rogue sanitized octolings - that is, ones that weren't easy to quickly imprison or kill. sakura and her father, whilst on a walk, found alice, who had recently escaped to the surface- and it was made clear that she was in no way trying to be harmful. sakura's father, being the police (kinda? ill call it police for simplicity) chief, had the winning hand in the debate as to wether or not alice could be adopted- sakura's parents were ultimately able to do so, making alice and sakura sisters. when sakura and alice were still in school, they also knew kenta to be a friend- they were all a tight knit friend group, even though they hadnt known each other for long. unfortunately, after kenta's family was killed, the shock from the situation caused them to say negative things about rogue octolings- and therefore ALICE- which led to alice and kenta having a falling out not long before kenta ended up moving to stay with distant family in a safer location. when everyone is older, they end up finding each other in inkopolis. and while there is much tension between alice and kenta to that day, they both have something in common. they both love sakura dearly. and as rogue octolings grow into more of a threat, they both work together, at first simply to protect sakura- circumstances from both the state of scoiety and from sakura herself helping them to be better people on their own, leads to them slowly becoming friends again. ,,,okay that was not minimal in the slightest, but i hope you enjoyed nonetheless. i feel like this is growth from the original plot, i think this, in particular, helps the whole 'alice and kenta rivalry' in the original make more sense. i also feel like changing the fact that alice's aunt is evil to alice's sister being evil makes their dynamic a lot more interesting. especially because it brings up alice's sister (still named lee unless i find a better name) feeling upset alice left the deepsea metro for someone who in legal technicality 'isnt actually her sister'. thats something i really think will be interesting to experiment with as well ik i say interesting a lot uhh guys im running out of adjectives help me lemme know what you think. all i ask is that you please be nice. ((im okay with honesty but brutal honesty/just rude comments in general arent something i can mentally take rn))
