IN FACT, the family is so rich they're considered royalty where they live. And in this world that he lives in everyone has powers that basically determine your social status, personality, etc. Caelon is a Shadow, so he can manipulate darkness, shadows, the night, and so on so forth. And 18 years before the events of Book 1, Caelon's dad made a deal with this other dude who has a super powerful daughter (his daughter is an Aether) and basically arranged for them to be married at 18 in exchange for Caelon's father to give this other dude A LOT of money. And neither Caelon nor Eira (girl he's marrying) know about this until their 18th birthdays btw Anyways shenanigans ensue, there's a bunch of tropes (billionaire romance, fake dating, slow burn enemies to lovers) PLUS PLUS PLUS there's a ballroom dance scene ✨✨ But it's not just romance there's also a quest-y adventure thingymabob Also yes, you might be like "Willow, you're only a teen! Why are you writing about enemies to lovers and arranged marriages?" BECAUSE! I frickin want to Let me live out my delusions in peaceeeeee... No but seriously would you read this book
