Sedge liked his world not to change. He absolutely loved it here in his home kingdom. It was absolutely peaceful and nothing could possibly get any better than people peacefully with no fights or incidents in sight. The Grass Kingdom was a haven for dragons. Well, it was the only haven in this world. Two tribes were fighting for an unclaimed piece of land... right in the middle of the continent. Sedge blamed them for the great big war that happened shortly after. On the WindWings' side, there were LightWings who could permanently blind the opposition. And on the other side, the SnowWings had the ToxinWings, who could stab their nerve toxins into their enemies with their claws. The war had lasted 14 years, and the two sides were NEVER giving up. However, the GrassWings were the most peaceful tribe of this continent, so they didn't pick a side. 'That's lucky, because we have lots of deadly weapons,' Sedge thought. 'We have control over plants and can shoot razor-sharp leaves out of our claws.' Suddenly, his best friend Juncus appeared beside him without warning. "YARGH!" Sedge screamed when he saw Juncus, before remembering that he was a GrassWing-WindWing hybrid. "Sedge, do you think the war should stop? I think maybe... the whole world should have peace, not just us. Do you want to go with me to stop the war?" Juncus asked. Sedge was lost in thought about this question since he was three. "Juncus. I'd love to, but what are we going to do? Kill everyone?" And Juncus replied, "Follow me. I know exactly what to do," and flew off into the skies, with Sedge following. "Juncus, when exactly can we take a rest?" Sedge's wing joint were screaming with pain as the flight seemed endless. They had been flying for two days straight, and even with his oversized wings, Sedge couldn't keep up. Suddenly, Juncus dived down and landed neatly on a cave entrance. "Sedge, we can sleep here," he exclaimed. As soon as Sedge brushed his claws against the stony ground, he instantly fell asleep. "Oh well. Sedge isn't half-WindWing after all," Juncus mumbled before nodding off. When Sedge woke up, Juncus was flying towards the horizon. He quickly stumbled and flew towards him. "Wait up! I'm behind you!" Sedge screamed. When he had finally caught up with Juncus, he was sitting on the top of a hill. "Sedge! Why did you wake up so late? I thought you were dead!" Juncus exclaimed as he twined tails with Sedge. "Anyway, I don't know where we are, but I know what we should do if we know where we are. Any clue?" Sedge carefully examined his surroundings. The castle ahead was mostly white but it had patterns that were intricate. The patterns looked free and curvy, like something...windy. Behind the castle were four mountains blocking the sun as it was rising. 'Uh oh. I know where this is,' Sedge thought. "Juncus, we are in WindWing territory."
"Sedge, can I tell you my plan?" Juncus asked. Sedge reluctantly said yes, because he knew that Juncus's plans always go awry. Maybe he could've left him alone. But to Sedge's surprise, Juncus's plan seemed reasonable and logical. "Alright, Sedge. That castle ahead is the Royal WindWing Castle, and many WindWings care about it, right? Well, if we destroy the castle and the SnowWing palace, we can distract them and claim the land to ourselves!" Sedge agreed that this was a great plan. And so they sneaked to the least guarded wall of the castle. "Juncus. After I launch the leaves out of my claws, you breathe fire on them, okay? I know it's so hard to hit a small target, but you can do it." Sedge explained. Juncus nodded, and Sedge fired razor-sharp leaves that seamlessly glided through the air. They were immediately greeted by a burst of flame, and when they sliced the walls, the flames caught the walls, making the fire spread along them. The constant wind only fueled the fire and made it spread quicker. "Quick, Juncus, let's go. And stay low. We don't want to be seen." Sedge whispered as they stealthily flew away from the burning castle. "I can't believe we just burned your tribe's castle! Are you sad in any way?" Sedge asked Juncus. His expression was somewhere between puzzled and miffed. Finally, Juncus blurted, "No. Honestly, I don't care. My father was the WindWing queen's advisor and to be honest, I HATE their queen. If she wins the war, she'll probably take over the entire continent. JUST FOR FUN." Sedge wished he could take the question back. "But enough of that," Juncus continued. "Let's go destroy the SnowWing palace. After all, what's a little cold compared to two GrassWings?" "I'msocoldimsocoldgetmeoutofhere," Juncus stammered. They had landed on the border of the Snow Kingdom and couldn't fly anymore because if they were to fly, they would eventually crash because they would succumb to the coldness of the kingdom. "Juncus, just keep walking. We'll eventually get there and soon return to the warmth of the Grass Kingdom." Sedge encouraged. The two GrassWings were so cold that icicles were forming around their noses. "We'll never make it like this!" Sedge wailed. And through the coldness, Juncus had an idea. "Come on Sedge. Let's go back to the border." Moments later, Sedge was out of his aargh-it's-too-cold-we're-all-gonna-die mindset as they reached the border. "Sedge, I have another idea." Juncus told Sedge. This time, Sedge wanted to hear it because he was starting to like Juncus's ideas and that he didn't need to go back in the Snow Kingdom. "...so you can shoot leaves at supersonic speed and once again, I'll blast them with fire. The leaves will be moving so fast, the LEAVES will catch fire before the snow can cool it down. Do you know where the palace is?" Sedge pointed to a barely visible building in the Snow Kingdom. Sedge flew up and shot leaves so fast that Juncus almost instantly encased them in fire. "Now we cross our talons and hope it works." Juncus stated. After some time, they heard an unmistakable sound of a SnowWing screaming. "I think that's our cue to claim the land OURSELVES." Sedge told Juncus as they both flew to the center of the continent. Since there was a border between the Grass Kingdom and the unclaimed piece of land, the two quickly darted back to the Grass Kingdom to tell everyone the news. "So can we live in there?" a GrassWing asked them. The answer was really obvious. "Yes. So ask half of the population to move their things there. Let's colonise the land." Juncus replied. He saw that Sedge was also spreading the word. Once the queens of the two tribes had fixed their castle from 'unidentified damage', they realised there was no point trying to colonise a land that was already taken. They knew the dragons who had caused 'unidentified damage' had outsmarted them.
