First things first, how does ranked work? As most know, when you join a game you start with an RP penalty, and work up until you break even or make RP. You get RP through match placement and KP (kill points), with most of your RP probably coming from KP. You get KP from kills or assists, 1 kill/assist = 1 KP. As your placement increases, so does the value of your KP, but after 3 KP, KP begins to have diminishing returns. As a rule of thumb, I would try to have 3-6 KP with a top 10 (ideally 5) placement. Every consecutive top 5 placement rewards an extra +5 RP at the end of a game, capping out at +25 RP. (ex. you placed top 5 one game, you get an extra +5 RP, you place top 5 the next 2 games after that, you get +15 RP). Finally, if your match has at least 10 players ranked Diamond or higher, you will have dropzone ranked, meaning each team lands at their own POI. So what should your game plan/strategy be? Play agressive. You want to third party as much as you can. If you are in a non-dropzone game, land the edge of the hot drop, get a usable loadout and push the nearest fight (or team if no fights are happening). If it is a dropzone game, quickly loot your POI, use the arsenals if you can, use the class bins/beacons, and make sure to craft a battery at the replicator. Then, depending on how long you took, grab the EVO harvester (if it's close enough or you have a character that can grab it quickly), and then push a neighbouring POI or nearby fight. Once your initial fight or hot drop is cleared up begin to rotate towards the next fights, make sure not to loot too long, as you want to outpace the other teams (in a way). While rotating make sure to scan any recon beacons (if you can) for intel on where people are and what to push. Best Weapons IMO: Hemlok, R-99, Alternator, RE-45, and all the mythics. Any SMG is a solid choice, and the Mozambiques and Wingman are pretty good to. R-301 would be great if the Hemlok didn't exist. My ideal loadout is Hemlock + Alternator/R-99 If you have any questions, critique, things I missed, or suggestions, leave a comment.
