This is here for reference! Oskar’s Gaehive Manager Application (I make silly jokes in here but I would take the position seriously) A Wee Bit About Me- I don’t want to have a massive block of text, so I’ll do bullet points! - I’m in EDT time - I’ve been a member since early? June, 2024. I’m still pretty new :3 - I’m genderqueer, a-spec, intersex, and otherkin [I’m a cool robot] :] I’m disabled - I am the number one Over the Garden Wall fan I’m number one Kena: Bridge of Spirits fan - I play the drums! - I like cars teehee! - unlike some folks, I am NOT evil!! Or gay!!! Why I would be a good manager [woaj, I get to use bullet points and talk about myself; my two favorite things] - I’m active lots! this means I’ll have time to monitor the studio. Even if I’m not commenting, I can lurk. - I often give euphoria, comfort, positivity, etc. I am also always open to vents. - I’m compassionate! I try my best to make sure everyone feels loved. - I’m good at deescalating conflict and drama. Getting snarky and angry seldom solves anything. That’s why I always take breaths before I engage in stressful conversations. - I am great at planning events I have organized many clubs at my school. I have worked with team members to plan protests, fundraisers, and other fun activities. I can use this experience to help plan Karma Rewards and community-building thingies. Downsides of me managing - I’m pretty impulsive I’ll try to remind someone of a rule without assuming good faith I get trigger happy with the report button - I have big and scary emotions I get really mean sometimes and lose my filter. I’m working to recognize this and log off when I start acting snarky, but I don’t always. - I have not been the best at assuming good faith - I break rules sometimes, though not intentionally - I’m pretty bad at interpreting tone - I disappear sometimes or decide to leave with little to no reasoning. -I often have a difficult time understanding people Unique things I would bring to the manager table :3 The main thing I would bring to the manager table is a unique perspective. I am a physically disabled guy. I have dysautonomia, Tourette’s, and hEDS. These conditions allow me to view the world in a way not many folks can. As a manager, I could shine light on the struggles of living with conditions like that. Even more, I need paranoia and caps trigger warnings. While this may sound like a downside, it really is a helpful thing. Needing the warnings gives a first-hand understanding of why these accommodations are necessary. If I were a manager, people could very easily come to me to learn about the warning criteria. I’m otherkin. I don’t think I’ve ever blatantly said this, but I am robotkin. I don’t talk about this much. However, I’ve begin to share some of my experiences. If I’m selected to be a manager, I would be very open about this. TL;DR: I bring diversity and can spread awareness about lots of things What I would improve I would work towards lifting the Hive’s general climate. There tends to be a lot of negativity --which is okay in moderation-- that makes the studio a difficult place to be sometimes. I believe that extra silliness can help improve that. Community Interaction. This is a big one. It is very easy for online spaces to become disconnected; people often yell into the void rather than interacting with each other. I believe activities that promote interaction can fix this. I ran a poll a little while ago and people shared they would be interested in a Gaehive-ran Oregon Trail simulator. I have modified the game to work in a studio like ours. If I were manager, I could create game thumbnails to ensure these activities are sucessful. Generally enforce the rules more, be online to moderate, respond to euphoria/comfort requests, and all that jazz :] Work towards removing the popularity hierarchy. This kind of goes with increasing community interaction. When we fix one issue, the other will follow. Because of this, increasing community interaction will help eradicate the popularity ranks. Obviously, this is a very ambitious goal that will require loads of teamwork and collaborative work to be achieved. What I think being a manager entails I am 100% certain a manager has more responsibilities than what meets the eye. And while I could not possibly list every single one of their duties, I’ll share a few ideas I have. - Inviting new curators - Tirelessly working to create a safer place for all [new ideas, suggestions, compromises, etc.] - deescalating conflicts and drama - enforcing rules - Responding to everyone‘s asks and try to accommodate everyone - Write thumbnail descriptions - Contact ST about a variety of things - Juggle their Hive-related duties with their personal lives - Be a constant beacon of support for everyone, even when they are treated poorly continued in notes!
Recommendations!!!! @YellowFang4735!! Fang would be such a great manager! I promise you this is not bias because we’re friendos. She is silly, kind, and always helps out around the studio. He is almost always the first to respond when someone needs help. They comment silly jokes that tend to lift the Hive’s mood, which is super important. Improved the studio by telling jokes to brighten others’ day. Ran a euphoria/positivity wheel multiple times. @--silly-goose-- Hilda is so amazing! She is pretty active around the Hive and always brings joy. I don’t think I’ve ever seen them not respond to a euphoria request, so props to her. Hilda is super sweet and would be such an amazing manager. Improves the studio by responding to euphoria requests and being [a] silly [goose]!! They also created a list of things to do during comment closures, which helped many! @axolochii Jamie is one of the coolest guys ever! He improves the studio by frequently replying to euphoria, comfort, spam, and positivity requests. Jamie would be an amazing manager for this reason. @BetterKeepCalm Matt is so amazing and would be a wonderful manager. They always help out around the Hive, reminding folks of the rules and whatnot. Matt is super kind and makes the Hive a better place. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Awesome sauce job and best of luck to all who apply!!
