Hello, everyone! Welcome to the signups for the first-ever Scratch edition of WriteFight, a character-swapping writing game inspired by ArtFight. The main gist of this event is that you join one of 2 teams---in this season, they are Heroes and Villains. Then, you put up bios of your characters, then find bios from other Scratchers and “attack” these Scratchers by writing about their characters. These “attacks” will earn your team points based primarily on the form of writing used (prose, poetry, script, etc.) as well as the word count of your work. For its first-ever season, WriteFight will take place during June 2026. It will likely be an annual event! - To sign up, answer the following questions in the comments below: 1. Between 1-10, how active will you be in the month of June? 2. What is your word count goal? (We recommend 500-1000 as a baseline, and cap at 20000) 3. What is your team preference between Team Heroes and Team Villains, if you have any? (Note that you may not be sorted into your preferred team.) While you wait for WriteFight to begin, feel free to start posting your characters here: https://scratch.mit.edu/discuss/topic/880978/ Signups will remain open until May 27th for the initial sort! After that, you will still be able to sign up and join the event later on. - Credits: ArtFight for inspiring this event! Skylar for the thumbnail Nell (@Firetender) for a good chunk of initial brainstorming WriteFight is hosted by Sandy (@Sandy-Dunes), Hope (@euphoriafall), and Skylar (@Milkysplash); feel free to reach out to any one of us if you have questions!
