Eruptpaw was no hero. Eruptpaw would never be a hero now and his kithood dream of being remembered would die with him. Because he was about to die. He would die. It was very silly of him to think he wouldn't, the wolves had bested much better cats! If Curiousgaze couldn't win what made him think he could? In the end, whether it was bravery or loyalty to his clan or the confidence an apprentice gets in their last moon before becoming a warrior, it didn't matter. What did matter was what he would do with what little time he had left. If caused big enough of a problem for the wolf, he would at least give his clanmates more time. The grey hairs the beast bore on its muzzle were all too easy to mistake as a weakness but now he knew, had learnt far too late, that it was a sign of experience. A warning he didn't know to read. With what little words were left in his throat, the tortoiseshell bitterly cursed his waste of a mentor. Euphoriaflair did not teach him how to hold his own against another cat, let alone a wolf! Sweethope would have done better had he lived. Eruptpaw was so sure of that as he directed an inefficient scrabble of paws the wolf's way.. Hacking, sputtering, he did not move like a skilled fighter but an apprentice who refused to give up. He just needed to last a few more seconds, that would get it far enough away from camp for the time being. Eruptpaw had a funny sort of hope, that he would crawl out of this injured and angry and trudge his way to the Medic's den where his old friend Saltstone would call him the idiot and joke about how little Eruptpaw was was while patching his wounds. Eruptpaw realised that wouldn't happen at around when the creature managed to reach his throat. He doubted there was a cure for that. He was lucky, though, struck a well-aimed blow right inbetween its eyes that seemed to fend it off for the slightest moment. That moment was all he needed to realise his purpose. Six moons as a kit, learning from his peers and elders' stories. One as Sweethope's apprentice, grateful to have such a kind teach. Three under Euphoriaflair, ignoring her neglect and committing himself fully to patrols despite Leafbare's snow. All of that had lead him here. Eruptpaw had come to associate the cold of Leafbare with snotty noses and starvation, nothing good. Newleaf was meant to bring new beginnings, he had lived most of his life hoping for something he would now never get to see. His sacrifice was for nothing and he had left Earthquakepaw alone. Soon his name would be forgotten, maybe others would have faint memories of an eager apprentice that patrolled far more than he ought to. That was for warriors to worry about! Well, they did not come then and they would not come now. For a moment, as he lay in the dirt and feebly tried to look for the sky (as it was always his favourite part of Flurryclan's open meadows), Eruptpaw hoped the clan would be alright without him. He then felt slightly guilty for whoever would find him like this and for thinking the clan wouldn't get on just fine.
I won't be carrying on any rps with him sorryyy (I have way too many ongoing anyway rip)
