Project Sunrise is complete. It's final name: Fleetkiller. Although delayed when resources were diverted for a space navy buildup, it was once again given top priority. It's design/purpose has been shifted. It has been recognized after scientists pointed it out that it would be much more effective if instead it could teleport fleets into the black holes multiple times, instead of just destroying a single system. Located deep in IKN territory, it is now much more versatile, and, if out Dyson Swarms are running at full capacity, it can teleport an entire fleet into a black hole, destroying it with no escape. The reason this needs a megastructure is needed instead of something smaller is twofold: the energy you need all at once to pierce the fabric of reality so quickly, turning the singularity's gravity well into a wormhole for a split second, with no warning. This, as previously stated, requires huge amounts of energy, so you must store it. We use extremely efficient batteries, and charge it up over time with energy from our Dyson Swarms and such. This gives it about 4 shots per week, when the Dyson swarms aren't being used for other things. For shots into Domus, it's about 2 shots per week, as farther distance = more energy. It opens a wormhole at the target location (communicated to the station), and anything in about a sphere with a diameter of 20 km is fully or partially teleported into the black hole. Usually, IKN ships will stay in range until about 30 seconds before firing, with skip drives on standby. They then skip out of range, leaving the enemy with little time to react. This crushing weapon can delete giant fleets with ease, and even if we never fire it, give us an advantage. It is also excellent at destroying enemy megaships or megastructures, making it easier on our fleets, as if they bring large ships out of hiding, they will be an easy target, stopping them from even reusing scrap, and denying our enemies any value from them. This can even be used to eliminate particularly troublesome political leaders, although it's not very subtle and civilian casualties would be extremely high. Thus, it will likely never be used for such purposes, but when push comes to shove...
