THAT is the definition for Otherhearted, where you feel a connection with smth non-human to the point where you identify WITH them, and it changes your sense of self on some level. THERIANS identify as a non-human animal on ANY LEVEL. Physical, biological, mental, spiritial, psycological, you name it. while yes, we (generally) have connection with animals and nature THATS NOT THE DEFINITION! YES. PHYSICAL THERIANS. THEY EXIST. ITS NOT ALWAYS NON-PHYSICAL! I identify, FULLY, as a raven. However, I identify WITH other species (like dobermans). There is a VERY large difference AND YES, WE THINK WE ARE NONHUMAN?! At least to some degree??? Cuz why would we identify as something and not see ourselves as that something ("Im gay but I dont actually think I'm attracted to men")?! like i get what you mean, but its just not true? if you are a therian, and you say its a connection, and you dont actually identify *as* said animal, sorry but you arent a therian. By definition at least. Im not going to police your identity, but for goodness sakes can we get the definition right. Therians/otherkins identify as a non-human creature. Othermarrows identify someplace between AS and WITH Otherhearts identify WITH a creature there are so many other identities too, so please, please, PLEASE do your research. Its not all therian. some therians also dont all have past lives. Some do, some dont. and thats valid. Some dont have shifts, again, some do, some dont. thats also valid. some critters also don't do quads, or wear gear. AND. THATS. VALID. quads, gear, shifts, past lives, dont equal therianthropy. You can even have/do those things *without* being a therian. pls remember its completely involintary too. you cant choose your types, u cant choose to be a therian. Thats an Otherlink, or an Otherpaw, depending on what you are comfortable with, and waht you want to do. we are not attracted to non-human animals (im not saying paraph!ll!c disorders automatically make you a bad person. You are a good person, with a disorder, as long as you are actively getting help for it). We are not the same as furries. we are a group with an identity. our community is so full of misinformation, and hate (within as well). lets pls, as a group, try and fix that. im not trying to call anyone out here, but im getting really fed up with people confusing identities, or saying that all therians wear tails and masks. thats like saying "your not gay until you have a bunch of rainbow flags" its just not how it works. you, no matter what your expirience with identifying as smth non-human is valid! Not everyones exprierence is the same <3
