[Space] - With recovery now successful and the gradual gains in the Voidian economy Voidia is now prepared to make the first of its changes. Voidia has taken a look into 21st century naval doctrine and has made its decision. Its fleets will now comprise almost entirely of destroyers, cruisers, and escorts supporting numerous super carrier. These will be the main fleet. Under that fleet will be battle fleets, escort fleets, and landing fleets. Battle fleets will be comprised with combat carrier, cruisers, escorts, and a few battleships. Their goal is to act as the main fighting force of Voidia. THey will likely be primarily made up of newer cheaper and quicker to produce alongside moderately expensive combat carriers. They will likely be led by a battleship or battlecruiser however in the event the flag ship goes down any ship can technically take command. Escort fleets will be fleets primarily made up of frigates and escorts carriers deployed to escort convoys and allied fleets. They will also likely have Voidian combat drones. Landing fleets are primarily made up of destroyers and cruisers. Made to deploy ground forces onto planets and a single (maybe 2) assault carrier. Each fleet will likely only have 1 carrier. Combat fleets will have more combat carriers as they are can both engage in the front line and deploy aircraft. The new Voidian doctrine focuses on carriers as you can see, the effective idea is to deploy long ranged drone craft (because the human body is too squishy even with Voidian augmentations) to not only give fleets a bit of extra view range but also engage enemy fleets. An enemy ship can quite easily be taken out by a stealth drone with a photon or quantum torpedo. Of course the chances of it being intercepted are high. However when you combine sheer numbers and how cheap these drones are you end up with a swarm of mass produced angry wasps. Because each fleet has these carriers they will be able to have hundreds of air wings at their disposal which they can use to wipe out enemy fleets. Not only that but Voidian drones themselves have seen many many new changes and some now have warp drives which can be used to hunt down fleeing enemies. They however, do not have shielding as adding in a shield element along with FTL would make the drones simply too expensive. Instead shields are given to more advanced (but more rare) heavy torpedo bombers or strategic bombers. Another thing is facing out older hydrogen phasers with deuterium phasers. Because deuterium has about two times the mass of hydrogen that means the phaser hits even harder making the phaser even more deadly. Due to power constraints its likely that smaller ships will use hydrogen phasers (which are themselves still nasty), more larger warships may even get uranium phasers! Another thing Voidia has been doing is making larger shipyards (known hyperforges). Voidia wants to have enough of these hyperforges to build super carriers. Hyperforges can also be used to make an entire squadron of ships so having as many of these as possible will be necessary. They will primarily be found in Voidias core worlds being powered by Dyson swarms and using the planets or asteroid belt to build fleets. Not only that but Voidia has also been changing up its military structure. Commanding each fleet is the Grand Admiral, combat, escort, and landing fleets are commanded by admirals, and each individual ship is commanded by a ship master. Who all answers to the Hive. This makes an effective hierarchy. Not only that but commanders are promoted based on experience and their ability to make tactical and strategic decisions. [Ground] - The Voidian ground force has been redone. Of course their is still the legion (basically the Voidian equivalent of an invasion force) these legions are split into corps. Such as tripod corps, mechanized infantry corps, light infantry corps, etc. Each corp is made up of the standard company and regiment. Nothing to say. However these corps can join together to become a joint corp with multiple joint corps make a legion. The primary joint corp is the tripod and mechanized infantry corps. With support from light infantry corps and engineering corps. Which as you can guess: makes a legion. Voidia has also begun to train troops in not only in conventional and asymmetric warfare but also in tunnel warfare. This is where the Engineering Corp comes in.The job of the Engineering Corp is to make defenses and breach underground defenses. Tunnel warfare presents multiple difficulties including the fact that AFVs and artillery can't fit through. Thus Voidia has begun to train troops to use tiny helicopter-like drones (known as locusts) to check corners. Not only that but specialized drones have been created specifically to engage in this environment. +
In particular is an experimental drone with a pentapedial body which would allow it to move in nearly every direction and would be armed with a ball that acts as a massive phased array that would fire a plasma cutting beam. Not only that but locust drones can still be used for non-tunnel based warfare used as a way to scout enemies. Voidian body armor has also been changed heavily. Instead most other people (who use metal slabs or crappy power armor) Voidias body armor is made out of multiple separated layers of graphene which can absorb and stop most high caliber rifle rounds. Unlike most other people who try to have they troops as durable as possible apparently Voidia instead simply gives their soldiers average protection (which is also far more logistically sound then whatever shenanigans the rest of the Galaxy is cooking up). Voidian light infantry also has specialized units. These units are truly fascinating using hover bikes to transport units of 2 troops. One with an anti-tank weapon and one with a normal rifle to guard the one with the anti-tank weapon. As one may have noticed: Voidia has copied the Dominion "scooter warfare" doctrine. The essential idea is that these scooter squads can get the dangerous areas quickly fire a few shots and get out just as quickly. Voidia itself has also begun employing tunnel warfare. Making deep underground tunnel networks like ants. Just like the Vietnam war. Combine this with a highly trained, militarized, and mandatory requirement to own a fire arm and you end up with a population that you must kill off. Remember: Voidians are psyophatic the only effective way to stop them is if they win, are defeated, or the hive directly tells them to stop. This was made specifically to make an invasion near impossible. [Reviewing] - Fighting the Gems and The GASI with conventional strategy proved to be utterly disastrous. Not only did Voidia use conventional strategies of stationary defensive lines and rapid tight formations assaults proved disastrous. This has forced Voidia to adopt a sort of "Hit and Fade" strategy hitting targets before immediately dispersing in all directions. However Voidias defensive strategy was hit badly the most. The stationary defensive lines could easily be destroyed by overwhelming numbers simply rushing through and overwhelming defenders. Thus a newer defensive strategy had been made. The adoption of not only using massive space "forts" and intersection nodes which force ships out of FTL but also the abandoning of the space mines. Space mines can only be effective as a weapon to blockade planets as using them in open space is useless. Instead the new defensive strategy relies on making an attack on the defenses so costly. So utterly catastrophic that enemies simply cannot accept the loses that would be created. Voidias space combat itself has also become more aggressive. Using wormholes not just as FTL but as a way to hit enemy fleets from a distance with barrages of Torpedoes/missiles and particle and energy weapons. Combining this with the mass usage of drone warfare and carrier combat you end up with a chaotic battlefield that directly counters slow lagging turrets other phased arrays or beam emitter systems. [Logistics/manufacturing] - One of the reasons Voidia lost its war against GASI was because its ships (while extremely powerful and effective) were extremely hard to produce. Many ships also had multiple primary weapons which used up more energy then necessary. That wasted energy could have been used for far more powerful shields, life support, and faster FTL. Thus Voidia has ditched this instead using mostly only phasers with Star Breaker gravity lasers as back up weapons when phasers prove to be ineffective. As for secondary weapons Voidia will likely use quantum lasers (not gonna explain you guys just such it up) which gives the laser increased ranged effectiveness. Of course such a weapon would not be as effective against GASI zombie ships but this isn't exactly what its for, as the quantum laser was mostly built to engage smaller targets that would be a wast of energy to use with phasers or star breakers. Thus the Voidian navy has distributed ship based weapons into 4 classes: Heavy weapons (primary ship weapons): Phasers and starbreakers Medium/light engagement systems: EM weapons and plasma weapons Strike systems: torpedoes, missiles, etc Air systems: combat drones A ship will have no more than 2 types of heavy weapons, 3 types of medium weapons, however each ship will have full access to strike and air systems. Another thing were gonna do is not shove different incompatible ship types into the same thing. note: wanted to add more but couldn't so expect a pt.2 including E-war, increased ship survivability, gunships, drone warfare, etc
