this is from a small little what if I thought of being. What if Goku and Vegeta fused while Vegeta was still Majin Vegeta, and so logically I had to think that Goku would be ssj3 at the time cause Majin Vegeta was in ssj2, meaning that the potara would merge the two still but it would make a whole brand new Ssj2.5
