Mipha with Divine Beast Vah Ruta. Daruk with Divine Beast Vah Rudania. Revali with Divine Beast Vah Medoh. And finally, Urbosa with Divine Beast Vah Naboris. Along the way, I was even able to uncover even more pieces of the past; the one, that, as time passed, seemed to connect with each other and finally made me understand myself better. And yet, as each memory crept into my mind, the weight of the past only became worse. Really, I was seriously asking this question to myself. Who really am… I? The Princess seemed to be overwhelmed because of me… “That boy is a living reminder of her own failures. At least, that’s how the Princess sees him.” “How proficient are you right now, wielding that sword on your back? Legend says an ancient voice resides within it. Can you hear it yet… hero?” “And stop following me, hero! I’ve made it clear I’m NOT in need of an escort like you!” …with my friend Mipha being with me, her words hurting the most, what my world could have been. “Once this whole thing is over… Perhaps we could spend some time together, Link.” …Evening out my friendship with the Princess. “As brave as you are, that does not make you immortal, hero.” …The words of the Champions. “The princess is a strong personality—so strong that she can’t see the range for the peaks.” …And finally, the princess gradually softened toward me, and even wanted to know more about myself. And in turn, I knew more about her struggle, why she didn’t enjoy my company before. And how her heart changed in the long run. “You’d be a perfect candidate for my study! Go on, eat it!” “Your commitment to the training necessary to fulfill your goal is really quite admirable. But… if you were able to, would you have ever chosen a different path… than this?” “Hero, I… thank you. I was so wrong about you.” “She once passed out in the freezing waters trying to access… this power.” Even with these memories, the story still felt incomplete. My story. Because all of this made the whole journey more complicated than I initially thought. Sure, I could feel my past and the present connecting. But the gap between is still largely unclear; many direct conversations and my friendships still do not make complete sense to me. It was something that seriously pondered me as I kept pushing forward, alone. On some days, I would always keep thinking about the Princess. How our friendship progressed, and how we came to be, both together and separated. My past life was a sign of being overwhelmed, pressured, but also seemed to stem and flourish despite my duty. I took a quick visit back to Kakariko to visit my good old friend Impa, the one who has consistently supported and led the direction that is now my present journey. She was equally thrilled about the news of freeing all four Divine Beasts, the same goal that the Princess had commanded her to relay to me. “Now, it is time to attack Calamity Ganon, while he is weak!” She expressed with a strong fury. But I knew, even with the Divine Beasts freed, and me wearing my old Champion’s Tunic, while everyone else was ready, I wasn’t. Saving the Princess was important, but could I really do so while not even fully knowing the story of myself and the Princess? “Impa, it’s too early. I’m not ready for such a mission yet.” “But the Princess ne—” "Listen," I cut in. “I don’t understand myself, my purpose without my memories. I insist on knowing myself again.” Impa inched closer to me, quietly understanding my intentions. “I understand, Link. But you must be quick; the Princess cannot be waiting for you all day long.” I nod quietly, thanking her before preparing to leave. "And also…" Impa murmured, beckoning him. She added, "...one last thing. If you cannot remember yourself even after your search, come back. I can still help." “I appreciate it, Impa,” murmuring back before finally leaving the premises. My horse Epona was silently waiting for me outside, and immediately set off after carefully letting her munch on one of my apples. There were just three memories left. And I could recognize them after a bit of pondering, so I immediately pinned their locations in the Sheikah Slate, the first one being at Sanidin Park Ruins. Taking a day to get there, I approached the scenery right during sunset. The landscape was sure beautiful; Mount Lanyaru was just in the distance, with the sunset bringing an extra layer of beauty with its ethereal, golden glow. And as usual, something immediately clicked within me. · · ─ ·☁︎· ─ · · ☆⌒(ゝ。∂) ʰᵉʸᵒᵎ ᶜᵒⁿᵗᶦⁿᵘᵉᵈ ᵇᵉˡᵒʷᵎᵎ

We’re almost at our destination.” A beautiful, looming sunset shone in the distance of Hyrule’s landscape as we finally dismounted our steeds and stood in the residing ruins, with the mountains looming over us. "The scenery sure is majestic today, isn't it?" Zelda whispered with awe. “...It sure is today, Princess.” “Please, drop the formalities, Link,” she murmured quietly. “You don’t speak this often. I assume something’s changed?” Hesitantly, I confessed, “...Yes, Zelda. With you, I feel… that we don’t need to hide our burdens from each other.” I held her gaze, a small, rare smile finally forming. Zelda smiled back immediately.“I’m glad to hear that, Link. It’s quite fascinating to see how far we’ve gotten together, don’t you think?” “It sure is, Zelda.” “Now, we should talk about something important, Link.” She sighed as she looked at the horizon again. “Mount Lanyaru is in the distance. It is where the Spring of Wisdom is located. I’ve prayed at the Spring of Courage and at the Spring of Power, with no result. I have no reason to think this would be the case, but perhaps the Spring of Wisdom could finally help.” A moment of silence passed as she turned back in my direction. “So I shall go… and make my way up the mountain.” “And I’ll always be with you, every step of the way through.” “Thank you, Link,” she beamed. “We should rest here today. It’ll turn dark soon.” We did just that. As the night sky fell across Hyrule, we prepared to sleep for the night. “...Happy early birthday, Zelda,” I whispered. “Oh, Link…” A faint blush blossomed in her cheeks. “I appreciate you.” “Sleep tight, Zelda.” “You too, hero.” · · ─ ·☁︎· ─ · · Snapping back into reality, I was left to stare towards Mount Lanyaru, alone this time. I’ve searched for my memories to find some sort of answer, a sign that I’m on the right path. But all this has brought me is more confusion and darkness. Why am I even here? Every step I take makes my duty feel heavier. What if, while all this time I’ve been sleeping, been just a burden to those who are waiting for me? Does Zelda truly care about me, or am I just a means to an end to this Calamity? As the night sky fell, these doubts continued to creep into my confidence. I took shelter in the ruins, in the same place where we took shelter all those years ago. I set up my sleeping bag beside the cliff, as I prepared to head to sleep again, with the moon looming over the sky. Before I went to sleep, though, I stumbled upon a blooming Silent Princess on the ground. It shone silently and dimly, a small faint of hope flourishing next to me. I knew Zelda loved these. She would want me to keep going, even if I couldn’t understand our relationship. For now, I needed rest. Soon enough, the search for my memories will make sense.
