Sometimes humans were weird. Really, really weird. Well, they were weird all the time, but most of that was just because they were a whole ‘nother species. Tobi couldn’t blame them! Cats and humans couldn’t understand each other very well at all, so it was important to be extra understanding. Just like how Archie didn’t get mad at her for kinda sorta completely shredding the curtains that one time, and Cam never seemed to mind that she didn’t understand the books he was reading to her, despite the fact that he very obviously knew, Tobi didn’t fault her humans for taking away the floor cheese whenever she tried to eat it, or for taking away her stuffed animals, putting them in a weird soapy thing, and returning them all clean-looking. Love was all about understanding, and if everyone understood each other, everyone would be friends! Still, sometimes the humans did things that were extra weird even for humans. Tobington knew this pretty well by now. She sorta just went along with it. One example of this weirdness was this game that the humans liked to play. They called it training, for whatever reason. They put down this big box with holes in it and something that looked sorta like a gate in the front, and then they put food inside it. It wasn’t the normal food, it was the special food that she only got on special occasions. Treats! She liked treats. She was supposed to go inside, she thought. Everyone acted like she’d just flown to the moon whenever she did, and she got treats, and that usually meant something was a good thing. They did this every. Single. Day. One day, Cam closed the gate! She was stuck in there! She meowed super loud, and they let her out. She didn’t want to get stuck again, but there were still treats in there! She stood there for a bit, sniffing at it. Eventually, she went back in, and the gate shut again. She almost meowed, but she decided to see what would happen if she didn’t. She wanted to eat the treats, after all, because they were the chicken kind! Plus, Cam would never leave her there forever. A few minutes later, he opened the gate again, and yet again did the whole ‘oh goodness, you’re so brave! Good job!’ routine, pet her, and then the ‘training’ was over. What in the world? Seriously, what sort of training was this? Training was about learning how to do super cool stuff, like being a spy! Or hunting fairies! She trained for those things allllll the time already! This was just… sitting in a box. So boring. Well, she got treats and attention, so it wasn’t that boring, but still. The other weirdest thing had started about a week ago, and it might have been even more strange than the box. One day, Archie brought a weird vest looking thing, with a long leash attached. It looked like a cross between a sweater and one of those harnesses that dogs wore sometimes. Huh. She got pets and treats and attention for even being near it at first, but eventually he picked her up like a sandwich or something, and just put her in the harness! That’s what she thought it was, even though she was a cat, and not a dog. She liked dogs, she didn’t mind having something in common with them! They weren’t as scary as some cats thought, they could actually be super nice! It was still odd, but not bad. Not really, at least. She got used to the box and the harness, though. They were actually pretty cool! The box had a blanket and some of her stuffed animals in it, and it was like a cozy little hideaway just for her. The harness was, uh… well, it looked cute, at least? It had green and white checkers on it, and it was sorta comfortable. She still didn’t know why she needed a harness, but it was fine. She could already go outside without any problems! If the humans started making her go everywhere on a leash, she’d be really sad, because she wouldn’t be able to go talk to her friends whenever she wanted anymore. They probably wouldn’t do that, though! They took her outside with the leash sometimes, but they always let her explore afterwards, so she trusted her housefolk. That’s why she kept on going in the box whenever asked, why she didn’t gripe about the harness even if she was busy, and why she loved her home so much! It was all about trust. Living with such weird creatures would be way scarier if they weren’t so nice, but they were, and Tobi wouldn't trade that for the world.
art will exist Later (tm) because I'm at school! This SRP isn't really about lore, just characterization, sorta? It's mostly intended to make sure tobington's therapy animal training doesn't just happen completely in the background, her housefolk are trying to get her crate/harness trained at the moment.
