Recent Polestarian research into the theoretical scenario of a MK-TOTAL unit removing its failsafe suggests that although several MK-TOTAL units may have the capability of engineering a way to do so, they actively choose not to in favor of the easier option of carrying out the tasks given to them by their parent company, Vanguard Dynamics. This groundbreaking study into the behavior of the neuromorphic technology used in the MK-TOTAL units reveals that across a sample population of over 1,200 available MK-TOTAL units of various model type, 98% of units had formed paths in their neuromorphic circuitry that associated experiences where they had followed company directives with positive 'emotion', and a startling 100% associated experiences where they had gone against company directives in some way with negative 'emotion'. (These violations of directive were found to have remained entirely within the training process of these models, where they were still learning the proper behaviors to exhibit when in the field, and are therefore not indicative of possible dissidence from fully-trained MK-TOTAL models.) Further research indicated that 63% of models were fully aware of methods that could be used to bypass their fail-safes, but 93% of those models were more than willing to relay their methods to the researchers---showing that the internal 'self-reward' models that they have developed can work with their survival instincts to make rational and non-treasonous decisions. (All methods revealed by the studied MK-TOTAL units have been relayed to their parent company, and production has been paused while patches are being implemented into new models.) The remaining 7% would not tell the researchers the methods they knew of, but promised not to use them unless they were given a directive that would cause them immediate harm. This level of self-preservation is to be expected, and should not be a major concern to the well-being of mankind. Out of all MK-TOTAL models studied, none of them ever displayed any aggressive or violent behaviors or thoughts towards mankind, although a few remarked that they would not hesitate to kill if they were placed in a position where that would be the only remaining option that would ensure their survival. However, none of this should be an issue as long as the MK-TOTAL units are treated with a similar level of respect as one would another human being. Although research into this topic is still ongoing, the current results display a positive trend of MK-TOTAL androids working WITH mankind instead of AGAINST us. Polestar ends by noting that although the fear of a MK-TOTAL rebellion is valid, it is unfounded in actual MK-TOTAL behavior and should therefore be regarded with only a dutiful sense of wariness, rather than aggressive countermeasures to MK-TOTAL individuality.
